That particular event is a little far for me. However, once I get more into BP shooting, I may travel to some of the events. I'll post what events I'll be at in case some of you want to meet up.
Didn't get to shoot the gun last weekend as I had a friend that got jumped Saturday and ended up in the hospital(that's were I was Sunday). Fortunately, he is okay(for the most part) and got released Tuesday. I won't go into details of his attack. Anywho, he stopped by my house on Friday and I showed him my new piece. I also told him I wanted to go shoot it and he was the reason I haven't been able to yet. He was a little hesitant to go to a gun range at first(still bruised and sore to this day), but I told him it would be good for him. Not sure how long it's been since he has shot a weapon, but I know it's been a while, and I also knew it would be good for him.
Well, I finally got to take the pistol out to the range(we went to Lincoln today). Took 200 lead balls + 100 rounds of .45 ACP for my 1911(left the other guns at home). My roommate and aforementioned friend shot most of the .45 rounds, as I was primarily interested in shooting the Trapper. I think I put, at most, 2 1911 mags woth of ammo downrange(16 shots) and man I am rusty! - (practice, practice, practice)
I will say this: It's amazing how fast time flies when muzzleloading. We shot all 100 rounds through the 1911(pretty fast - as usual) and only went through 40 rounds of lead balls(most of which I shot) and were at the range for well over 3 hours. I think we were averaging about 5 BP shots per firing session.
Of course, I have never shot a BP gun before and have only read manuals or reviews as well as watched a ton of videos. Because of this I was very careful, slow, and methodical with my loading process at first(the gun smokes for a while so I can definitely understand the need for a powder measure). My fellow shooters are not as experienced as me(in general), so I loaded the gun for them the first few times explaining every step in great detail. Both of them picked it up after only 2-3 tries and really loved shooting it. I also got a few compliments from other shooters as well as the Range Officer(he said he had a similar piece - different brand).
Out of the 20 or so rounds I put down range, most of them circled around the bullseye(8-9 rings). For some reason I was the best shot with the BP. We were shooting at 6" targets at about 10 yards. My friends were missing for the most part(or aiming at the bottom target and hitting the top), but I was putting them to shame.
I have .490 balls and .015 patches. Started off shooting 15 grains of FFg, and ended up shooting 25 grains. I want to go back by myself(or with my roommate if he has the patience) and shoot 15-15 grains of both FFg and FFFg at different distances to see what the pistol is really capable of and also what it likes.

Roommates opinion:
Not what he was expecting. The smoke effect was anticipated and lived up to the lore, but the kick and sound of the gun was surprisingly lackluster. Tried using just the main trigger as well as using the two stage trigger system and actually prefers one trigger(in all honesty I didn't try firing the weapon without using the set trigger as I wanted a lighter pull). Although he does admit that he prefers the lighter pull....he just isn't comfortable with a two trigger system(bad experience in his past with a double barrel shotgun). I explained the difference and he understand, but still prefers one trigger.
Friends opinion:
*Didn't ask for a full debrief before he left, so this is just my observation of his experience* He was both intrigued and excited about idea of shooting a powder gun. I know he has shot guns before, but doesn't go to the range regularly at all(he doesn't own any himself) Due to the cuts/stitches on his hand he had a little trouble loading the gun on his own, but towards the end he was adamant about trying it himself a few times. This highlighted his enjoyment. He actually started asking me about were I bought mine and how much it cost...
