It was bought from a friend that has a C&R. All he did was sign it out of his book. I don't remember where he ordered it from.

I personaly wouldn't do it to save legal fee's because almost any cop will identify your yugo as an sks.If you want to I have seen sks rifles converted for ak mags, you can find those all over the place. plus you can use your legaly owned high caps if you have any.

if you do ANY changes on a center fire rifle, and you include a detachable mag and any one of the evil items that "bolt" on to the gun then you will have a "bad" gun.
look into 922r laws about parts you must have to keep out of club fed.

ca still does the aw sh*t.

        search assault weapons in californa.
        and fed laws on 922R.

hmm a post a while ago involving rebranding firearms (mainly the bushmaster xm-15 with welded closed well)

so a manufacturer is allowed to take an existing firearm and rename it

couldnt they take an sks throw on an ati monte carlo stock, grind off the bayonet lug, insert a duckbill detachable usa brand 5 or 10 round mag and brand it a "CALIFORNIA SIMONOV"

since its not a "sks" anymore would that be allowed?

Given what the DOJ has done to clean up the Evan's Gunsmithing/GBSales fiasco with tweaked listed guns, anything is possible.

Amazing what the DOJ allows when it has to clean up an Iggy Mess.

Two of the ranges i shoot at usually has an LEO or two around and i've never had any problems with the any of them (sheriff's, city PD or Highway Patrol). The biggest majority of them are gun guys. I've even had a few drool over my AK.

              I'm not using AK mags.

My Yugo is not an assault rifle under Cal law. It C&R. Changing the stock to a synthetic stock voids the C&R status under 922(r). All i have to do is play the "10 parts" game.

              And according to this:http://web.mit.edu/~joncox/www/docs/..._v_kings.shtml

              It's perfectly legal.

They most likely could. But then it would fall under 922(r) and i doubt there's a big enough market to justify the expense.
