Thinking about picking up this k31

Fellow Calgunner is putting it up and it looks like its in really good shape. Just a few questions about it to make sure I get a winner.

Is getting accessories like slings, ammo, stripper clips, sight adjustment easy to get?
Is the Price Fair? IMO I think it is.

and Finally is the 7.5 Swiss a good hunting round? I was doing some research and found that it is in the same category of .308 but just wanted to see what you guys had in mind Thanks really appreciate it! I figure I give my self a little x-mas present and this was on my mind.

I would consider the price very fair for the K31.

The 7.5 swiss is comparable to the 308 round and very easy to reload using same bullets, primer, and powder as the 308/30-06. You will need 7.5 swiss dies.

I have never really been fond of the stripper clips for the K31 since they are made of thin sheet metal and paper.

I would think you should be able to find a swiss sling. Many rifles came with them already attached.

The typical K31 is a outstanding rifle with great accuracy potential. You can also get a non-permanent scope mount which is very nice. I believe its still availalbe from brownells its manufactured by St. Marie.

sweet! excellent. Well I do not plan on putting a scope on it if I get it but I dunno maybe later. I certainly want to get the iron sights down first. Now when you mean accurate how accurate? Better than Einfield or Mauser?

With a scope I can usually keep it around 2 - 3 inchs using a rest at 100 yards. I ain't all that great of a shot.

From the photos it appears to be original and not refinished. Was a bore inspection done? Its highly unlikely that the bore wouldn't be near pristine as most all k31s are.
The price at $300 was too high. $250 would be in line with a mean current average on that one as described. Ask him to post three more pictures. One closeup of the finger groove area, one closeup of the cartouche area and one of the crown closeup.

For a sight adjuster... there's a cheap solution.
This is one of our issue armoury adjusters........... very expensive.





This is found at any hardware store. Its a nut splitter with the tip flattened.

k31 accuacy? There is no military issue rifle that ourperforms the k31 and 1911sr with issue ammunition. Check the last 4 years of Camp Perry competition records.
Slings and everything else are readily available as well as load data.

I think the stripper clips are fantastic. Once you use them, you won't be disappointed. Don't be overly concerned with them being partially made from waxed cardboard. They are still durable. The Swiss were not cheap, and had reasoning behind the design. With some internet persistence, you will find them easily enough.

saweet. yeah I can see you broker them, no physical inspection yet but did request for pictures of the barrel and the crown. If I do get it plan on just keeping it as is and just shooting it. It really looks like some serious fun.

yeah might just have to do that. If I got I want to get a Swiss Army Uniform for it as well. So what range would you use it to get it zeroed? I am guessing 300yds or 400yds?

Once you start with the k31 you'll probably not put it down. The accuracy will astound you with open sights and blow you away scoped.
Zero at 100. The k31 is actually a true 1,000 yard rifle.

The stripper clips are great, I was able to pick up a couple at the last gun show for a decent price and they work flawlessly. No binding or anything loading the magazine.

Its been a long time back now, but my Father brought in 1,000 of them from Switzerland and sold them for $0.85 each. The buyer paid postage.

nice, but if there was no stripper clips you can still load the magazine correct?
