    ATF Bull****

I sent in my 03 paperwork in mid October - payment was charged on Nov 11th, yet ATF says they only received my application on Nov 21st, since it needs to be mailed from Atlanta to Virginia.

She said it will probably take 90 days from Nov 21st, so I will be waiting until February 21st???

I hate our government. Why don't they just make an online application that does an instant background check, and either approves you or not, which then emails you your license to print out?

I guess I really don't understand how they can say they received my application later than the date they charged my CC?

I thought the 10 day wait was bad....How long am I going to be waiting for my crate of Mosins???

I figure, with the top of the crate replaced with a piece of glass, they'd make a neat coffee table...and i'd have a lifetime supply of cosmoline....

As funny as it may sound....but considering we live in different country than 2 years ago.... I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.

They seem to do them in batches. There was a thread somewhere about that. I turned mine in 1.5 months after my friend and we got ours at the same time

I think that after 12 years of a FFL03 the address was different for every application. The intial form had a wrong address on the envelope versus where I had to send the forum. It will come so just wait.

I sent in my renewal a few weeks ago, and got my new license Monday.

Yeah, I don't get how some get processed right off, and others do seem to get "lost". Would love be get an inside view of this process.

This subject has been slammed more times than a taxi cab door.

It's because receiving and processing are two different things.
Applications are processed AFTER they take the $30.00 fee. They want their money first.
ATF is allowed 0-90 days to get your license to you and your time starts not when your money is taken, but at the time the actual app is processed.

Getting antsy about it is not going to speed anything up, rather it's like looking at the clock every 30 seconds during your last hour of the work day, it will drive you crazy and feel like an eternity.

Yes, you may very well be waiting until Feb. (lots of folks have waited 12 weeks) And you may very well have it tomorrow.
But no matter which, the end conclusion is always "patience". Because when you get it, the rewards afterwords are worth it.

I'm not antsy, it's just that Feb 21 is 17 weeks by my clock.

Although, I do have to admit I have nightmares where a Russian man is standing over a crate of mosins, saying "Cosmoline gone. This is last crate of Mosin."

I didn't even think much of it until I checked up on it today, but when I did, I was dumbfound that nothing at all had happened and their was no status to speak of...

I can't help to wonder if my application is just sitting in a pile somewhere gathering dust, or if their is some sort of comical Rube Goldberg style processing system....would be interesting to see.

Just find something else to do and stop worrying about it every other day. I waited over three months for mine and I basically forgot about it by the time I received it. Renewals are much faster.
