    Argentina Arsenal Systema Colt

I saw this on the Gander Mountain web site:

It looks to be in fairly rough shape, but it's still interesting. I'll bet there's a story on how that gun got back into the USA that we'll never know...

Doesn't look all that bad - worn finish, but not neglected.

That’s a little on the high side for such a well-worn example.

Oh, and it didn’t get back into the U.S. It was manufactured in Argentina and probably imported here a few years ago.

I have a couple that did come back.

Not too long ago they were pretty common here in th U.S.: Colt made, Argentine made under license, even Colt Aces. Prices are going up now.

Right - bad wording on my part - I know it was manufactured in Argentina! I did a bit of googling - I didn't realize a bunch of them had come into the US back when Argentina upgraded their military sidearms. I've never seen one before (but I've never looked for them either!)

They made several versions of the ACE. These are getting real hard to find and the magazines are impossible to locate.

I've got one marked DGFM (FMAP) on one side of the slide and "Policia de Buenos Aires" on the other. These are one of the few 1911's made that don't have a manufacturer's name on the frame, just a serial number.

These are nice pistols if you get one that isn't well used and loose. I got this one at Fed Ord, in South El Monte back in the early 1990s, I think about $175? I was an 01 FFL at the time so it was "cash & carry" AFTER I had gone through about 35-40 pistols to find one that didn't feel as though you could tip the slide off sideways from the frame. This pistol had a mint bore and the action was tighter than a frogs behind (water tight) so I was happy to get this one. I saw one on a Proxbid auction site about 2 months ago go for $600 that had as much if not a little more finish left as mine, I didn't realize they'd gone up so much in desirabiity and price! That said I'm thinking the Gander Mtn price is alittle steep based on what I can see. IF it were a tight action and mint bore , maybe close, but I'd want to inspect it in person.

                      Interesting. Didn't know the .45 was 11.25mm.

                        Here's mine:

It won't look anything like AgHauler's or Matt's when I get done with it.
                        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I think that I paid about $100 for mine back in the early 80's.

Thanks! But if you got the frame yer off to a good start! Actually saw an auction once for all the parts less frame, but that was several years ago.
Should I see another such auction I'll give you a headsup on it, if that's what you're looking for or wouldn't a 1911a1 build kit work? If work cancels me tomorrow I'm headin fer Carson City and the range and maybe Cabela's...if it ain't snowing that is and I'm taking that M1927 with me, she hasn't been exercised in quite awhile. BB
