    Nagant Pistol Question

I saw a Nagant-Pistol for sale at the Vallejo Gun Show this past weekend and it was for $135. However when I looked at it I saw what appeared to be a crack, (This is used as a example):

On the side of the frame where (behind the cyclinder) there is a line; there is is where the crack was. Although I temped ($135) was a decent price, something told me not to buy it.

I would like your thoughts on this, should've taken a picture of it but didn't.

    Thanks

If it's truly cracked I would not buy it. $135 from a LGS is a far price.

J&G and most other large retailers sell it for $100. But when you add $22 for shipping and $25-50 for transfer price it is not so good of a deal.

    Do you have a 03 C&R FFL?

I hear the Big Reno show is coming up next month and if you did maybe you could make a road trip and pick one up there.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

No way I would buy a cracked frame revolver for anything other than as a parts gun - and I think a parts gun should sell for much less than $135.

I would also walk away from any seller that was trying to sell a cracked frame revolver without labeling it as such. If you saw the crack that quickly, then the seller certainly should have seen it too!

True. I need to clarify my comment earlier.

$135 is a far price for a Nagant from a LGS IF is is in good shape; not a parts gun.

$135 is a reasonable or even great price for many Nagant parts guns. I'm willing to make an open offer to pay $135 for a working parts gun for my 1887 Nagant in 7.5 Nagant. Hell, I'll openly offer $250 for a working and safe Nagant in .45LC.

Now, for those who only think of the 1895 models, it still depends on the gun. There are some rare and pricey ones out there.

BTW, the "crack" was probably nothing more than seam between the side plate and the frame.

I assume you are talking about the line directly to the left of the arsenal mark on the hammer? CSA is correct. that is a seam. All of mine look exactly like that. That one has CCCP markings on it... kinda cool. For $135 I would pick that up.

I could point out that *this* time the OP actually posted a picture of an 1895 Nagant so there could be no confusion about whether the thread was talking about any other Nagant revolver - but I'll let it go - I'm not as anxious to pick a fight as some folks seem to be...

seemed to have missed that minor detail. Unless the OP thought that seam was the crack....

LOL - I wasn't actually referring to your post. The picture the OP posted was being used as an "example" of the gun and crack. I think you guys could be correct - he may have mistaken the seam for a crack. I really just meant that from the picture, we can be fairly sure we're actually talking about an 1895 Nagant revolver and not something else. Some folks defensively jump in to remind us not all Nagant guns are cheap every time the word Nagant is mentioned.

The OP asked about the price of a Nagant revolver. He used a picture he found on the internet. I guess, that it's safe to assume that he was talking about the exact same gun he found a picture of. Right? Or, maybe, he was looking at an 1895 officer's model which are worth considerable more than a private's model? We won't know unless he actually know exactly what he was looking at. Some people here are quick to assume instead of finding out all the details. Sometimes one little proof mark can mean the difference of thousands of dollars.

It was best example I could find w/o searching the entire internet!
As I stated before; the shows a line on the frame between the cylinder and the hammer. However the picture shows a line, the pistol I looked at had a def crack. Bottom line, I feel better passing on the gun.
