    C&R Question

    I have a C&R question.if I put a non-norinco chinese SKS into an aftermarket stock,

    this one http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/60532-1.html

What is the legality of this weapon?
if I need to get 922r parts where can I get them fairly cheap online?

Any and all help is graciously accepted

Norinco SKS isnt C&R anyway, and from looking at that stock, you will have a pistol grip. Im not 100% certain if you are planning (or could) go with a larger mag conversion or detachable mag without a bullet button, but nonetheless, that would be a no-no. Definately keep the original stock in case you want to sell your SKS later. Tacti-cool ones dont demand a high price in the collectors world.

OOOHH, Okay! It says 306 followed by some Chinese lettering correct? That is still a Norinco SKS made in factory 306. The Norinco SKSs (all of them) are not C&R. Reason being, is there is no way to put a date of manufacture to your rifle. The Norincos have a chrome barrel and yours should be suitable if you want to "bubba" it (put tacticool stuff on) and use as a range toy. You wont be adding any value by putting that stock on (in fact keep the old stock if you plan to re-sell), but its cool if you are going to shoot it. I would also ask in the FFL forum here, but I think you should be legal. Pistol grips become an issue with detachable mags where you will need a bullet button installed. A pistol grip is one of the "evil" features, but I think your fine with the stock mag on an SKS.

As for the 922r stuff you will find various answers all over the place.

I am from the group that reads the law in a manner that even the end user must comply with 922r regulations.

That being said look at Tapco for a 922r compliance kit at a reasonable price.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

If that SKS mag is non-detachable, then there is no need to make it featureless.

As for 922r - if you add any of the following, then I think the rifle is no longer considered "suitable for sporting purposes", and must comply with 922r:

                - High capacity (greater than 10 round for rifles, 5 rounds for shotgun) magazines
                - Pistol grip attachment
                - Folding buttstock
                - Muzzle device/attachment (to include a threaded barrel capable of receiving a device)
                - Bayonet lugs

As to where to buy 922r parts for an SKS - sorry - I don't know - maybe google is your friend? I'm sure the rifle forum would probably be able to help with both questions.

What kind of government do you guys got here? This is worse than California.

Here is a kit from Tapco with stock and all. The only problem is that they list it with a 20 round magazine and we need 10 rounders in CA
