    Just ordered a K98

I've been wanting one for a couple years. Here in SoCal the gunstore k98 prices are crazy. So, I got my C&R so I could get one online. This is what I ordered:

"BCD, 4 (44), LAM, CUPPED, HEAVY STYLE CUPPED BUTTPLATE STOCK. REALLY GOOD EVEN BLUE, SINGLE WAR BIRD. NOTHING SPECIAL ON THE OUTSIDE. JUST A GOOD SOLID EXTERIOR RIFLE. INSIDE IS A BEAUTY. BORE IS PRISTINE AND APPEARS UNFIRED. SHOULD BE A TACK DRIVER... $309.95"

What appealed to me was the fact that the bore was really good. I shoot my C&Rs. Did I make a good choice? What do you guys think?

Based on the way the description is worded, if you ordered it from where I think you did, his descriptions are a pretty close match to what you will receive. I've bought from him several times and haven't been disappointed.
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

Yes, Ben does a good job of descriptions. And his prices have gone up I see.

I got 2 98 k's and 6 91/30's from them and all were great. Will by more from him as funds allow.

You'll like it. K98s are fun rifles.

I wouldn't expect a "tack driver" but 2-4 MOA with irons is normal with a good bore. Good luck.

I ordered from Classic Arms. Wow ordering with a C&R is a whole lot easier than going to a Kali gunstore!

1944 Production numbers for BCD (Gustloff-Werke, Weimar) was 348,081 rifles. Not rare, so it's not going to make $20,025 on Gunbroker, but worth the $300 for the prestine barrel. My CE 42 is accurate, which really makes it a joy to shoot.

We want photos when it arrives.

Note, if your bcd 4 has a 5 digit serial number, it will have actually been produced in 1945.

My only concern is that since it was made late in the war, the quality might have suffered. I'm trusting that as long as I dont by a "kriegsmodell" I should be ok.

I've got a semi-kriegsmodell and it's one of my most accurate milsurps, even comparable to my M39.

Most of that is "gunshop BS" and a result of the "only American guns don't suck" way of thinking. BCD4s are plenty safe. Relax.

I just picked up my "BNZ, 42, 1822F, LAM, FLAT, PRETTY RIFLE WITH NICELY MATCHED WOOD. DARK SOLID BLUE, DUAL EAGLES, BORE SHOWS LITE USE BUT STILL NRA EXCELLENT... $279.95" from Ade's today. Silly Russians and their electropencil fetish. Now to find 8x57mm snap caps...

It's my first C&R, my first centerfire rifle, and my first experience with this sticky stuff called cosmoline.
