    While browsing gunbroker...

When you come across a C&R milsurp, and in the item description- it has all cap "FFL REQUIRED" do you assume a C&R licence will suffice?

I know a 03 "C&R" FFL is indeed an "FFL" so to speak, but sometimes I just get a little worried that the seller (especially if it's a gunshop) will insist on using an 01 FFL for transfer.

I suppose one could always ask if a C&R is ok- but I was just wondering if anyone else is paranoid about such things (or has ever had a problem with a stubborn/equally paranoid seller).

Usually, if it's listed in the C&R section, I figure a C&R FFL is okay. If its not listed in the C&R section, I will send the seller an email asking if they will accept a C&R License. Haven't had any problems this way.

I'm usually thrilled to see "FFL required" as long as it isn't followed by "NO SALES TO CALIFORNIA".

I won a Finnish 28-30 at an estate auction a few months ago. They said they wouldn't honor C&R licenses but I called and explained I was only interested in the Finn and it was dated 1935, so they agreed to let me bid. Unfortunately they used a local FFL to ship the rifles and this FFL refused to ship to California no matter how hard I tried to convince her that it was legal. I ended up having to have it shipped to a middleman FFL in AZ.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

My take on this is exactly as TRICKSTER put it, if it is in the C&R section and a long gun then a C&R 03FFL should be fine. Two of the auctions I have won said nothing about 03FFL being ok and when sent an email asking for payment I replied that it would be in the mail next day with a signed copy of my 03FFL. One of them was an 01 and they were both fine with it.

In the C&R section I presume that a C&R is ok. I always ask when they aren't.

I have had good luck with this. If you can show them that what they have is C&R they will usually be happy to take your C&R if you win the bid.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I always shoot them an e-mail to verify. I phrase the question in such a way as to provide some info, I sort of assume they either don't know of the C & R or it isn't their first choice, and get them to lean toward "sure, WTH - I'll send it". If the person sending is an individual I let them know it's easier to send to me than a dealer because I'll already have their info, they'll have mine.

What I have done for the last couple rifles I bought on line from estate auctions was to sent a copy of my signed C&R, the CFLC flow chart from calguns, and the page the guns is on of the ATF's C&R master list. No problems and a week later a big box shows up at the door.
