I'm a lefty and I just run the bolt with my right hand while leaving my left hand on the pistol grip area. If you're shooting from a rest it's a breeze. Otherwise you just tilt the rifle up a bit to run the bolt. Since it's a straight pull, it's not that hard to master.

probably. but that's not to say a novice with a K31 can outshoot an expert with an M27. it won't be a huge difference.

You.... you mean........ the rifle doesn't shoot itself?? There goes my theory about pistols being responsible for holdups.

You ever read the Swiss battle plan? The army retreats to caves and snipes, civilians take it on the chin, as a deal is worked out with the aggressor. The defense of Switzerland was all about banking, not about guns.

As far as accuracy goes, it depends on the shooter (no kidding), but the faster smaller Swede will win, given optimum ammo.

So all things equal, a Swede would be more accurate only because of the 6.5x55?

Because right now, I guess I want to make some kind of flow chart on a Swede vs. a Finn vs. a Swiss....

This week, the Swiss sounds really nice because y'all said they all had good bores...

Latigo, if I wanted to purchase something from you guys (like a target sight), do you give out discounts to regular members here? Because if this rifle would allow me to get into competitions, that would be something interesting to learn and try.

Not necessarily. First off though, you need to understand the difference in the bullets.

The 6.5x55 is at it's best with bullets in the 120-142 grain range. The ballistics of a 139gr or 142gr bullet are far superior to the most common .308 or .311 match bullets.

The 6.5 bullets are typically less susceptible to the wind, and will have a flatter trajectory than the other bullets. That does not make them more accurate per se, but more forgiving of the shooter's error.

The Finn M28/M39 Mosins have the best (read easiest to see and use) iron sights, IMO. Recoil is about the same, but a little less than 30-06.

The Swiss rifles - especially the K31 - have the best triggers, and easiest, smoothest bolts. Recoil is on par with a .308 with the same bullet.

The Swedes have the best ballistics, and firing a lighter bullet have less felt recoil.

Any of the above, with a good bore and good hand loads is the equal of the others when it comes to how precise (or accurately, if you prefer) they shoot.

Swiss Products does not normally sell directly to the public. Their products can be bought through Graf & Sons and Brownell's. Both of which give dealer discount to C&R holders if you send them a copy of your C&R license.

I think you can still order from those companies, you just won't get an FFL discount.

They got it right. Very sorry, rojocorsa. The only sales not through our distributors are to members of Swiss (SSV) Sanctioned Clubs, and the request must come from the Club President (who must be a Swiss citizen) on the official club stationary with logo. Otherwise it's only through our distributors.

I'm betting you could find a club in your AO and join. There's no age restriction.

I abslouteyl do not agree with the Swede being inherently more accurate than the k31. Check the last four years of records at Camp Perry and Quantico.

BTW...... this is my Sister's full dress k31. No Gnat eye is safe!

EDIT: I had it wrong. A "member of the board of directors" must be a Swiss Citizen, not necessarily the president.
