    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

no they will not fire out of battery.

I also am a bit paranoid about the straight pull to the dome effect.

the trigger on these rifles rivals most modern day 2 stage triggers.

What's the consensus on Prvi 7.5x55?

I keep saying that the PU sniper was to be my next gun, but the reality is that it costs too much for me.

I think that by mid-July, I could fully afford one of those $279 J&G rifle and ammo. My only problem is that I have no 03 FFL, and I really have no desire to hassle through a normal FFL and pay the state extortion fees--so do Calgunners typically sell these in the market place?

MD, that's a great picture, actually.

So for safety reasons, do you manhandle the bolt into battery the way you rack a pump gun?

And what's that weird cleaning rod looking thingy they have at the end?

In the last two years, I have bought 5 swiss rifles (4 K31s and an 1889) from the calgun's classifieds.

Prvi or Wolf Gold work fine and are boxer primed.

Prvi works very well, and I use it almost exclusively due to fire-season restrictions on bi-metal ammo.

I always close the bolt with authority, but it is a smooth action that rivals the Lee-Enfield for reload speed.

I cannot think of another gun with such universal enthusiasm. Every other gun, even the venerated 1911, has it's detractors. Nobody ever complains about the K31. About the only negative thing you ever hear is that the great GP11 ammo is expensive ($0.47-$0.50/round) and berdan primed.

In a nutshell, for the money, you can't buy better craftsmanship, better accuracy, and some history to boot.

Are the prices here usually reasonable?

I like the sound of that. I'm a fan of the Enfields.

Stacking hook---is that like the Swiss solution to our stacking swivels?

just keep in mind: the minute Rguns is out of authentic PU snipers for good, they will be going for MUCH more than $800.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. And I do love Mosins, but that wouldn't be a responsible purchase for me. I have much more saving to do.

Another question about K-31...do you have to 6 o'clock hold it at the lowest rear sight setting at 100 yards like a Mauser?

I love my K31 and I bought mine just because I thought the bolt was cool. Didn't know anything else about it. Mine was built in 1943 and a very amazing shooter! You will not be disappointed.

Why do the clips for these look very weird, like they're made from cardboard?

Right now I'm in the process if I want to really get one of these...doing research and rationalization, but all the prospects for them sound good.

Machinists have long known the quality and extreme precision of Swiss tooling and machinery, and along with watches and other fine things they make, the K31 is a great example. If you can look past the dents and dings in the stock, the action shows incredible attention to detail and precision in fit and finish. The straight pull action feels slick and solid, and closes ...well, like a Swiss bank vault door. As a machinist (amongst other things) myself, I find it hard to believe that they were able to manufacture such a fine piece of equipment for general military issue. It'd probably be a fair deal to pay 5 or 10 times the going surplus price, if somebody had to build one brand new today.

It has the best trigger on any military rifle I've ever fired, and it's accurate as far as rifles in general go, to say nothing of a military issue rifle. I still have a target with a 3 shot group that measures ~1.1", witnessed by 2 buddies, with bone stock iron sights, shooting Prvi Partizan ammo. And my eyesight is terrible. One of these days I'm gonna shoot it off of the rest and tweak the action screws and see what I can wring out of her.

Well, I'm a cheap SOB who's always looking for a good deal. The problem is that these are going up monthly so, my "good deal" 6 months ago, is a steal today. Likewise, the overpriced ones I passed up were probably reasonably priced and I just wasn't up on the current market price that month.

I'll bite. I don't like how hard the action is for a lefty to operate. I know there are LH conversions out there but, I am talking about K31s in "as issued" form instead of bubba'd (even if the conversion is reversable).
