What's bad about vertical ejection? This rifle has never been lethargic in its ejection. I shoot it left handed, and no issue.

As far as the bolt stopping because of the follower, like already mentioned, Mausers do that too. As do most handguns. And ARs. And it's funny how all the AR fanboys poo-poo on the G-3/AK/etc because it doesn't have last round bolt hold open.

My only criticism of this rifle (which is not actually exclusive to this rifle, but most other European rifles too) is that the sling attachments are on the left side instead of having bottom sling swivels like USGI rifles (and Enfields). I'm assuming that all Europeans did was to carry the damn things which I guess is fine for right handed users with the side ling, but I like shooting with USGI type slings if possible.

Most Mausers are guilty of this was well, and the K98 gets another penalty for having such outdated sights on it.
LOL! this true Mmmm the dreaded Elephant Divisions!

        Agruing for the invasion

Was the fact that the Swiss might have come into the war on the Allied side, plus the fact that Allied Airmen could land there if their aircraft was damaged - and they seem to have found ways to "escape" internment.

In addition, Hiltler was anything but rational. He wanted Switzerland BECAUSE it was an island in territory he controlled. It probably bugged him every time he looked at a map.

It can be argued that Hitler's stupid decisions actually shortened the war. For instance, the ME262 first flew in August of 1942 - but Hitler refused to produce it as a fighter until 1944. Deployment could have begun in early 1943, just as US bombers were beginning large scale operations. Imagine the effect of ME262 jets on heavy bombers without escorts. The Allies would not have gained air superiority - let alone supremacy. That would have meant no D-Day invasion. He also initially ordered development and production of the StG 44 or MP44 - the worlds first "Assault Rifle" - stopped because he thought the K98 was "good enough". The rifle was developed and deployed anyway simply by calling it a "machine pistol", hence the "MP44" designation. These and other decisions caused the British to actually call off a well developed plan to assassinate Hitler because they were afraid that a successor might make better decisions and therefore lengthen the war. Hitler was too valuable alive for the allies to kill him.

Did Hitler want to invade Switzerland? Absolutely. Did the German military view such action as much, much too costly in relationship to the potential gain? You bet they did - and it was they who stopped it from going forward.

In effect, Switzerland's policy worked exactly as intended. The Swiss nation is like a porcupine: If you are a wolf, you can certainly attack and kill it if you want, but you are going to get hurt in the process and the reward is not really worth it. Good rifles, good marksmanship and extensive training in post conquest organized resistance are all part of that strategy. It's still in effect and it works well for them.

ahh this is very true. In fact the Allies had so many plans to kill hitler yet they decided he was doing a better job of ruining his own military than it was for the Allies to kill him.

Same made can be said about Sweden stuck right in the middle as well. Germans in the Norway and the Pro-German Government in Finland as well. Ahh if only I could back in time and pick out crates of k31, mausers and Finish Mosins

If you pull back the bolt really slow, the case will just stand up and you can remove it and put it right into your reloading can stash. No chasing after ejected cases then Also avoids screwing them up.

I hold my left hand over the top of the receiver and open it slow and the case just pops up right into my hand.

Ha! A real k31 shooter would move his head forward, eject and catch it in his teeth!

Yea but no reason to sell others on them, I want to get a walnut all matching one with a decent non-refinished stock, and a troop tag before they are impossible to find or get really expensive (well they already have but I'm late to the game as it is)...

Kinda scared to just order one from a place like AIM, maybe that would be ok if it was my first one.

Go for the best ones. Call Simpsons and talk to them. When I first showed a solid interest in guitars my Father had a philosophy. Make it as enjoyable as possible for yourself and learn with the best. No regrets.

I'm not aware of any importer checking for tags and bumping prices, but I suppose there are those types out there.

Aim has an extremely sporadic record. It's always a roll of the dice with them.
