I have never shot a Mosin before and I did notice there is no pad on the end of the stock. Is the kick enough that I should get a buttstock pad or am I just being a little girl

I don't honestly believe any recoil pad is needed on milsurps. Sure they kick a little, but it's not too bad.

If stand or kneel when you shoot, you will be able to manage recoil the best. It really gets you on the bench or on prone.

I use a PAST recoil pad when I shoot Mosins because the bruises got old. But honestly what's worse than the recoil is the concussive force of the muzzle blast slapping your forehead. I know a guy who actually likes it, but I suspect he may be masochistic

Yeah the muzzle blast is pretty intense.

I would rather shoot 30 rounds in a row with one of my Mosins than 30 rounds in a row with my 12 guage, no butt pad on either gun.

I shoot only about 10-rounds at a time in my Mosins, then again I am a girl.
Anything more than that really hurts my shoulder. I usually start out with the Mosins, work into the 357 rifle, then 5.56.
If I want to shoot more, I bring my pistol.

I dont think you need one. When I was waiting for my m44 I bought a lot of things for it one thing being a rubber pad. I didnt put it on the first time I took it because I wanted to get the true effect.The kick is not bad at all. Lets just say, its still in the tool box and will stay there.

I miss my M44. I started off my rifle shooting hobby shooting mosins, a 91/30, a M44 followed, then i graduated to a Finnish M39. Im a big guy and they definitely leave a bruise. I would shoot atleast 75 rounds when id shoot, plus atleast 50 shooting clays w/ a remington 870 express that also contributed to the bruising. With all said and done, you do feel the soreness after you shoot but its a good feeling. I shoot ak's and ar's now, as well as my rem 870 and i still come home from the range bruised and sore. I mainly sold off my mosins because yugo 7.62x54r is scarce and expensive. My mosins were sure accurate though.

I wear a PAST brand recoil pad and it works great. I usually shoot at least 70 rounds on each trip to the range so it makes it more enjoyable to shoot.

Anyone who says they shoot 50 rounds out of a Mosin with no pad and they don't feel a thing probably has man-boobs

yeah i did a rapid fire 20 rounds of military surplus with stripper clips i had to rest for 10 minutes after that lol . You can definitely feel the kick after a few shots on your first time.... sometimes you will notice that some Military surplus ammo has some major kick behind them then the others but you get use to it. Alot of my friends call me a wimp but they never fired a Mosin so who knows. But thats why i like the M44 ... Power, loudness, durability and the muzzle blast!.
