wrapping the stock in paper towels and putting it in a heavy black plastic trash bag in direct sunlight on a very hot day works well.Guys i have a question and this is Off topic but if i want to get all that cosmoline off i heard a couple people just let it sit out in the sun with a towel covering it so it just seeps out onto the towel. Was at Big 5 today nosing around.
I asked the guy if his mosin was the same from last week.
He said
"Yeah, you know there going fast, we're not getting many of them anymore. I don't know why."
I just shrugged and went on my way.
Better get your Big 5 Mosins, they're disappearing fast.

I just DROS'ed a $119 laminated special yesterday. It had one of the best barrels I've seen yet. I plan to sport it out and hopefully take some pig with it latter this summer.
While talking to the manager he said that he saw three non laminated models on his shipping roster. Which to him meant $99 sale next week. I might just have to get another one.

Went into my local Big5 to look at 22s. Saw an original wartime production K98 with matching #s and a 1943 91/30 with newer stock. Had a nice selection of Marlin/Savage/Ruger 22s and the guy that covered the gun counter was the most knowledgeable I've met. Younger guy, maybe mid-20s, and knew his **** about C&Rs and. COE and such. Prices are meh, but service was great.REDACTEDOriginally posted by shakes88I went to drop one duece and I come back to pedo-spiderman, dead cats and ***** ******* tattoos... In my experience with Aim and I have purchased many as well as I know many others too they pride themselves with only offering the best quality they can provide. That has been my and others experience as well.Big 5 is good because you get to see the gun, and, as I said, there are gems. I have heard nothing bad about JandG or Aim, but that PROBABLY means some people got turds and don't want to admit it.
Do some reading at http://7.62x54r.net/ and get familiar with the dates and manufacturers. This could be the last wave of cheap decent long mosins............but that has been said before.

Picked up my rifle today. I don't know much about this thing but I can't believe how great of a condition this thing is (date stamp says 1940). This was a "Top Shot" impulse buy and can't wait to take it to the range in a few weeks.Comment

2 years and a couple months ago.... LOL
I just put a Mosin in DROS jail on the 6th from big 5. It was not on sale and they had 2 left and no more in the warehouse he said. I called on the 4th to see if they would honner the sale price and manager said no, came in on friday the 6th to get a ruger 10/22 that was on sale and a different manager was there so I asked him and after about 10 minutes of pestering him he gave me the sale price of $99. I is a 1944 round receiver with a Tula symbol, non laminated stock and nice smooth action with real nice bore.Wanted: Spent Berdan primed Yugo 7.62x39 & 7.5x55 GP11 Swiss brassComment
