what exemption to this law are you relying on?

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
    (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.
    Jack

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I personally think that if a cop would arrest you on this because you are just at a range trying out your 100 year old gun...he would get a 'what an assssssss' reply....I would offer to him to try it out...deflection....

I know that one CG'er got arrested for one of them being considered an AW. The catch was that the pistol was in the holster, not assembled, so it wasn't an AW, but he still had to deal with the charge. TMLLC worked their majic and got most of the charges dismissed, including the AW charge.

Do you have other information on this one? Specifically what locality this took place in and what the other charges were?

Uh, what do you mean 'MOST of the charges' IF the charge was having an illegal AW and that got tossed out since the stock was being used as a holster(and ALL BH's left the factory with this arrangement) then there were NO VALID charges...unless he did something else....so ALL charges should have been tossed........ I swear this effin state and the INjustice dept and all the power hungryuneducated LEO's, the POLITICALLY MOTIVATED DA's,etc can all go to hell......

read the memo, he was charged with 8 felonies and 3 misdemeanors, of which the Mauser was one of them. The AW charge for the Mauser was dismissed, along woth MOST of the other charges. DOminguez did plead guilty to one of the charges, "carrying a concealed weapon".

I just purchased a Browning Hi Power with shoulder stock / holster, this thread helped me a lot.

The guy eventually fought the Mauser charge off, but he must been through storm of **** ........ i feel sorry for the poor guy and I don't want to go through the same thing.
