I have used tipton carbon fiber cleaning rods with very good results. They are flexible but unlike metal rods they stay straight and don't get bent. I always had trouble cleaning my M-91 Mosins from the breech, so I bought a 50" one like vlad mentioned and it works great.
I've also found that I don't use the jag as much anymore, since someone showed me a better way. I take a worn bronze brush and wrap a patch around it, dip it in cleaning solution and run it through the bore a few times. It really pushes the patch into the grooves and gets the bore extra clean. Then I replace the patch with a clean one and repeat. I mainly use the jag for rifles that have perfect "like-new" bores where I don't want any brushing going on.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Don't forget something strong enough to clean up after shooting corrosive ammunition. "Sweet's 7.62" is the best, but it's ammonia and you must wear gloves when using. "Blue Wonder" is a gel, ammonia based, but not as nasty as Sweet's. When using either one as directed, your Mauser will clean up quickly.

(I've had a Persian for six years now and you'll like the way it shoots straight and true.)

The barrel on that Mauser you ordered is 29" long. Plus, I prefer to clean bolt-action rifles from the chamber side so the rod has to be long enough for the combined length of the barrel and the receiver. That's why I got the longest Tipton rod. I doubt your AR-15 cleaning rod is long enough or stiff enough (because it was designed to fit in a 5.56mm bore) to be useful with that 7.92mm Mauser.

You can buy individual brushes at any place that sells gun supplies. Jags are a little harder to find. Because I have firearms in many different calibers (.22 to .45) I got the brush and jag set to have the whole range of sizes and to keep things organized in one package http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=112072
        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Ideally, I would go with the 30 caliber rod. It'll be much for stiff than a .22 (ar-15 sized) caliber rod. Also it'll cover your other needs like if you ever pick up a M1 Garand/Mosin Nagant etc etc.
