Thanks, I've had my eye on them for a while but was waiting for a good price. I finally found a good deal from a fellow Calgunner and jumped on it.

It's a commercial model with adjustable sights, non-C&R, 8-shot single stack mag. Great condition, looks like almost 99% bluing and red star grips.

Yeah I picked up a few boxes of the brown bear stuff for killing paper, but was curious about these HD rounds. How does the XTP compare to the other FTX stuff?

FWIW re ammo... the silver bear always seemed a little cleaner to me and its about the same price at the brown bear.

I actually found a really cool grip on ebay for it. It's a thumbrest grip, except it's a red-star grip in the same brownish-red plastic as the original. I've never seen one like that before. Usually the thumbrest grips are black. Is that something that came on one of the variants, like the Chinese Mak or something?

I'll keep an eye out for an old Russian for you!

Well I found that gander mountain has its as well for 19.99 and I believe they offer free gander mountain shipping. So if you dont mind waiting a little longer you can save all the shipping costs.

Those thumb rests are cool. I have a black non star one that came with a bulgarian Mak. I have a red star thumb rest grip that came with one of my east german maks as well. I am not sure re country of origin though for the thumb rest because I have Maks from those same countries without the thumb rest.

hmm looks like i may have to do some reading.
