So what does it look like?

How about you take a few pictures to share the information on a uncommon rifle?

Undersizing brass is bad, but if you are a reloader you size the brass to a larger dimension to correct headspace. That is the easy fix, if you reload.

Gas escaping can be from an incorrect shape on the tip of the firing pin, an easy inspection can determine this. A weak striker spring can cause the primer to vent gas also, minor parts replacement. Underpowered ammo may allow gas to escape.

If you are just going to dump it, why not see if anybody on here wants it as a wallhanger. It sounds like a very uncommon rifle, and somebody is bound to be willing to pay to have it shipped to them (with the usual FFL stuff as needed.)

I would be putting myself into a possible liable situation if I were to give an unsafe weapon away so that's why I wouldn't do so. It will likely be retired to wall hanging duty with the bolt removed just in case.

I'll take it as a wallhanger! I can even use it for instructional purposes for the Marksmanship Club @ UCSD!

ETA: If retired to me, I would love to have the bolt included so I can better instruct future marksmen!

Liability is avoided if you sell it "as-is".

Yeah, people sell non-shootable parts guns/wall-hangers all the time. Just get write up a bill of sale stating the rifle is unserviceable/unsafe to fire as is, and have the buyer sign it.

I appreciate the interest in receiving the Mauser in an as is unsafe condition not to fire, but I just do not feel comfortable giving it out to be used in any manner. I am sorry.

Well, could you at least smash the receiver and send me the parts? I will pay shipping!

I'll give it a good home if that is what you are looking for. It wouldn't be handled, just appreciated.

Not a single person in the crowd is rational or reachable because the parade's for gay folks and it's in SF.
