    Belgian Mauser Carbine

Along with a ton of other great stuff today my Dad also gave me a Belgian Mauser, no import marks at all, my Dad remembered it being a carry back.

The issue is that it was common at that time for the bolts to be interchanged and this is the issue with this one. Because of the bolt the gun exhibits blow back when fired. The headspace I imagine is the issue.

What can be done to rectify the headspace issue?

    Thanks

Are we talking a mauser or a mosin?

      Sounds like a Finn-issued Swedish M96 carbine.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow, it is definitely a Finnish Mauser (Carbine style) stamped "Fabrique De National" it's definitely not a Swed 96 they are much longer then this one.

You never came back and finished up your other headspace thread, is it going to be the same on this one?

Ummm... If it's a Belgain-made Mauser, what exactly makes it Finnish? An "SA" mark???

Can't speak to the accuracy, but some info here:

Is it a military style rifle? What caliber is it?

Does it have the SA stamp?

So it doesn't look like that^^?

I know the Finns used M98a's, and M96's, but I haven't heard of other mausers in finn use...

I think you need to be a bit more precise on your definition of "blowback"

Primers blowing out? case rupturing? gas escaping?

From your previous thread it would appear you really do not understand "heaspace" .

                      Headspace;
Headspace is the measurement between two points in a rifle's chamber. These points are the boundaries of cartridge movement when a cartridge is chambered.

No I know what headspace is thank you. I have not fired the rifle my Dad has and it expels gas out of the top of the receiver hole so yes headspace is the likely problem

To satisfy all the grumpy people here I will taking in depth pictures as I said I would yesterday and documenting any stamps or markings sometime today. I just took ownership late yesterday so I appreciate the constructive help to decide why the rifle blows gas out the receiver when fired.

                          Thanks for your patience

It's not worth fixing, the barrel would need to be put on a lathe for a solid fix. Resizing or under sizing the brass is an unsafe practice so this rifle will be regulated to wall hanging duty as it's not worth the fix.

Either that or a burial at sea. I've decided to dump it so I'm not going to bother with pictures. Thanks to those that had something constructive to ask.

                              Crappy mood?

So, instead of saying something like, "Oh crap! I started a thread looking for insight, people came to help with information and questions to help me and I never got back with them", you wonder if I'm in a crappy mood. Cool! Well done! Big thumbs up to you!

Actually, I'm not in a "crappy mood" as you put it. I came to the last thread to assist you and I came to this thread to assist you. A little courtesy on your part would be greatly appreciated, and give us a break.
