That is PRECISELY what is WRONG with most of what is WRONG in America today !!! A coddled bunch of spoiled "Me Generation" ninnies who grow up to be back stabbing, back biting, theiving liars on Wall Street, stealing the hard earned money of people who got that money from hard work and ingenuity, and using it to lever toxic bonds for THEMSELVES ONLY.

We don't raise OUR KIDS thata ways do we??? We teach our boys, even the gentle ones who would rather write a story instead of play ball, to stand up and rely on THEMSELVES, to OPPOSE that which is WRONG.

There are some boys, who are just inherantly MALE, ALL-BOY, Rough and tumble boys, cussin boys, boys who sneak behind the 7-11's with their buddies and sip on stuff they aren't supposed to be a sippin on, that they talked some older person into buying for them...

My son was that kind of a boy, and he did, put me through some hell, let me tell you. But I wouldn't have had him any other way. Wild, he was a problem, but, with patience, and a firm hand, I could keep his exhuberance reined in, he grew up to be a man I am VERY PROUD of !!!

Most boys, and girls for that matter, are middle of the roaders, like most other people, they can be easily molded, easily guided, to be pointed in the direction of whatever the architect wants them to wander in... Sometimes they rebel too, but not that often. In the case of those kinds of kids, it's those damned parents who are turning them into these ninny sheep, fodder for the wolves. They can be saved too, by association with OUR KIDS, as an example of what a kid should be, not a robot, a young individual, not entirely in control of their young lives, but with a wide degree of discression placed in their own hands.

And of course, there are the brainwashed hard core ones... I don't know what to do about those ones, they will be the next generation of white collar criminals that bankrupt the next financial collapse in 40 years, after we have recovered and built it all back up again.

This is one of my favoritist photo's of all time, It's a pic of a young boy, perhaps in the range of around 11 to 14. Look at the confidence, the pride, the steady faith in himself he has written all over him. And think about the kind of parents that raised a boy to become that....

We can make a differance just by raising up the kids to be like this one !!! And of course, it's up to US TOO, there are tons of stuff WE can do, like... Speaking out AGAINST raising children to become mindless, robot, stay in step "Good Lil Americans"... Fighting for what WE BELEIVE to be ABSOLUTE TRUTH, Life, Liberty, The Pursuit of Happiness, Freedom of the Press, The RIGHT to keep and bear arms UN-INFRINGED !!!... Our BELIEFS !!!



And... Believe it or not, my little "wild eyed", "idiotic", "crap idea", is all part of that kind of a philosophy and approach to getting back to what America needs to be... American made products, made in American Factories, located in America, with American Labor, buying American Materials, shipped by American Truckers, powered by American energy sources...

I am discussing American values, and attempting to develop a product, and a manufacturing facility from the ground up, not an easy feat in these money starved hard economic times.

These two concepts, that of a fully funtional adult, who is associating with other adults, in a very mature adult forum, to promote adult interests, and, people who have personal problems with respect to children, and always spend their time lurking the the shadows of places where kids go, like youtube or myspace, not forums like this one, are so remotely distanced from each other, and have absolutely nothing in common, one has to wonder about the mental stability of a person who draws that kind of a link to begin with.

I know when I was younger I'd take apart 22lr shells and pour the powder down tubes and fill the rest with rocks n glass with a patch. Light a fire under the tube and wait for it to go off. Now that your offering kids a 'gun' I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for some kid to crack open some of dads shotgun shell and decide to pour the contents down the barrel, wad and shotcup and all. Load up a cap and attempt to fire it. . From 12-14 I didn't know the difference between black and smokeless powder. It looked black when it came outta the shell. Big mistake then. The kind of people who would be interested in BP replicas probably spent upwards of $1,000 in real money or man/hours making their clothing and accoutrements to more or less exacting standards using often hard to find materials. Getting even the most "washable" paint out of man-made materials is difficult at best, I can't imagine trying to clean dried paint off of my veg-tan leather baldric, linen shirt, silk weskit and wool trousers. Then you've got the whole need for participants AND observers to wear protective eyewear and you remove the reenactor even further away from the ideal.

The dueling societies still script the duels ahead of time if using blanks, or use the honor system with low-velocity non-paint projectiles. If you can't rely on honor to call the shots, you're missing the point of the dueling society.

I can't imagine any reenactment group that would be willing to use paintballs to mark hits. I guess the milsim paintballers might be willing to mock up pirate outfits for the rare boarding party, but you've got to look at the potential market. Who is this going to appeal to?

Just trying to get your gears turning. If you can come up with something better than the replica rubber band guns and blank firing replicas that don't require the use of paint that are already in use, you might have a built in market to pitch to. It would seem, other than that, it's just a curio.

ETA: As far as using the "replicas" on the market, they're pot metal. The frizzen are pot metal, the hammers are pot metal, the entire thing is pot metal, sometimes even the screws that hold the darn things together. You can't work the jaws of the flint models, even if you could, you wouldn't get a spark. The percussion models would be destroyed just from the detonation of a percussion cap.
