You aren't missing anything. The problem is that you are trying to apply logic to California Gun Laws.ok so if you have a 03ffl you can go out of state and buy a c&r handgun bring it back to the state send in a form with 19 bucks and its ok?so why cand you buy a C&r handgun online get it sent to your home and send the form off? its the same thing minus the face to face transfer what am i missing?
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups -
CA hasn't quite yet figured how to screw with a federally issued license when you are physically out of the state. Give them time, they'll come up with it being illegal for a C & R FFL to import a firearm unless through an FFL Dealer, that way you can still buy it, but as soon as you hit the border you'll be in violation of CA law.ok so if you have a 03ffl you can go out of state and buy a c&r handgun bring it back to the state send in a form with 19 bucks and its ok?so why cand you buy a C&r handgun online get it sent to your home and send the form off? its the same thing minus the face to face transfer what am i missing?GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

i just did this at the big reno gun show. buying a handgun and walking away with it was a euphoric experience!!! To hell with Kalifornia!!!!Originally posted by Josey WalesWinchester Model 94 - FTW!Originally posted by SJgunguy24"Well I guess that's when you have to put on your big boy pants, let your balls drop and find out what's it like to be a man and take some responsibility."Comment

That's why I have 2 licenses. One here and one in Nevada. Handguns and anything else that can't be sent to California goes to my NV license.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

CA laws say firearms need to be transfered through a CA FFL dealer. [PC 12072(d)]
Only "C&R" exemption to this is for long guns that are 50+ years old. [PC 12078(t)(2)]
Therefore, C&R handguns need to be transfered through a CA FFL dealer even though the recipiant has a C&R FFL.
C&R handguns are exempt from the approved list. [PC 12125(b)(3)]

The 12078(t)(2) exemption is why C&R FFLs can have 50+ year old C&R long guns shipped to their door in California.12072(d) Where neither party to the transaction holds a dealer's license issued pursuant to Section 12071, the parties to the transaction shall complete the sale, loan, or transfer of that firearm through a licensed firearms dealer pursuant to Section 12082.__________________

Yes, it's perfectly legal for a C&R FFL from California to travel outside of California and acquire C&R handguns and C&R long guns of any age. The handguns just need to be registered by sending in the form along with $19 per handgun within five days of returning to California...
Where a person who is licensed as a collector pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code and the regulations issued pursuant thereto, whose licensed premises are within this state, acquires a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person that is a curio or relic, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations, outside of this state, takes actual possession of that firearm outside of this state pursuant to the provisions of subsection (j) of Section 923 of Title 18 of the United States Code, as amended by Public Law 104-208, and transports that firearm into this state, within five days of that licensed collector transporting that firearm into this state, he or she shall report to the department in a format prescribed by the department his or her acquisition of that firearm.Last edited by Mssr. As usual, I will be the voice in the wilderness. California law does not prohibit a licensed collector from acquiring a C&R handgun in interstate commerce.
That said, if a licensed collector accepts the notion that C&R handguns are illegal to acquire, then he must also conclude that C&R long guns are similarly illegal to acquire in interstate commerce (at least from major retailers). The 50-year exemption for C&R long guns cannot reasonably apply to any entity that sells firearms as a business. A handful of sales by a private GunBroker seller would not be illegal, but the dozens or hundreds or thousands of rifles sold by AIM or Samco clearly would be.Matthew D. Van Norman

I didn't understand any of what you said.
Why? California law makes a clear distinction between handguns and long guns. That said, if a licensed collector accepts the notion that C&R handguns are illegal to acquire, then he must also conclude that C&R long guns are similarly illegal to acquire in interstate commerce (at least from major retailers).
That doesn't sound "reasonable" at all.The 50-year exemption for C&R long guns cannot reasonably apply to any entity that sells firearms as a business.
No "logic" here either. CA Regs. only regulate what CA citizens may receive, not who they may receive them from and not what out-of-state vendors may sell.A handful of sales by a private GunBroker seller would not be illegal, but the dozens or hundreds or thousands of rifles sold by AIM or Samco clearly would be."Everyone must determine for themselves what level of tyranny they are willing to tolerate.
