I have a '41, so the sight wasn't soldered on. Somewhere on the internet is a list of which years have their rear sight soldered. I'd hate to have to deal with solder.

I merely knocked out the two pins, took off the wood handguards, then used a punch to knock the rear sight forward and off the rail. Easy peasy, although I did have to really wail on one of the pins.

Bringing this one back up cuz I made some changes/updates to mine. Made a new Rail, Mounted a USO scope in Badger Rings, Raised cheek piece, Removed rear sight lug, Re-painted.

Holy ****, I made a wax prototype extremely similar to op's link maybe 2 weeks ago. I still have to go melt it out of the plaster I covered it in. It was made off my round receiver 43 izzie, and used the receiver to help steady it.

My M39 basket case parts gun resurrected, Max Shepherd bolt handle and safety ring, Accumounts PU scope mount, and a Finn anti tank gun PU scope. With heavy ball, it makes consistent hits on a punkin sized rock at a lasered 800yrds.
