Thank you for that info, it goes well with its story.
I inherited this rifle (and a number of others) some years back, along with a 1957 Chevrolet Bellair Hard Top (no post). The owner was into classic cars and nice firearms, and his estate willed it to us. He liked all sorts of things from 1957, so that all makes sense.

          +1

But you forgot the part..."and it was 1 of 65,296 rifles made that year"

          LOL

          Long live the Trapp man!

Made in Dec of 1957, with 55,500 made that year.

              It's all good my friend;

              Here are two more:

              1892, .25-20; # 932222

1894, .357; # 6478598. This is the "ugly duckling" with that safety button through the receiver. Don't know if it is even still being made. May be too recent for your records. Previous owner had no papers.

Thank you again for the info.

Your 1892 was made about Nov. in 1924, with 12,312 made that year.
The .357 Mod 94 was made after 1991, that's all I could find on that.

                    Hey Trapp,

I have this Winchester 1894, serial 3329155 was wondering if you had any more info on it.

Also, I'm not sure why but it seems that this mag tube is far shorter than most 94's is that a common variant? It only holds 3+1 rounds of 30-30winchester.

I haven't shot it yet as it's a recent acquisition but I'd love to know more about it.

                    Thanks!

Made in 1970. Looks like someone tried their hand at making a half magazine out of a commemorative rifle. Can you get me a clear close up of the end of the forearm and mag tube. Script on the barrel too if you can.

Found em, but haven't got pics yet. Haven't had internet (or TV) for two days! Numbnuts neighbor backed his houseboat trailer over the cable amplifier box, and took out the whole block. Scrambled my Modem/router in the process. Just came in here to check it, and it was working.
On the plus side, got my backyard cleaned up, and a path through the garage, and doing that, found a pile of ammo I forgot about. Just like Xmas!
I'll see if I can get some pics taken.

Thank you so much Trapp! I've included some of the pictures as requested. I even flipped the barrel over and it looks like the screw holes are there for a full sized magazine tube. It also looks like they painted black over the end of the forearm. here's a link to the album of pictures https://imgur.com/a/mFVEoVx

Well, it wasn't a commemorative, but it "was" a full magazine carbine. Other than the forearm, no permanent damage done, it could all be put back like it was.
No collector value to start with, so your options are wide open. Restoring it wouldn't be worth the money, to me anyhow.
Me? I would cold blue or duracoat the metal, and refinish the stock to a darker walnut. Pre'64 Winchesters could be ordered with 1/2 or 3/4 magazines. Buyers wanted a different balance, or just lighter/faster handling rifles. Yours has probably been lightened a good full pound.

Nothing like finding ammo hidden in the garage!!! I hope your neighbor bought beer for the neighborhood!

                                Thank you so much Trapp!!!

I have another one for you. This one I know is old and has a history of wrangling outlaws in Yellowstone. I acquired it from a close friend who's grandfather was a park ranger. What else can you tell me about it? I'm looking to restore it but I want to keep the oldness to it. What should I do? And what should I not do? The fore end tip is cracked on the bottom to the barrel band as well as some rust but no serious pitting.
