    Read Grant Cunningham's article -

He recommends Lubriplate's FMO-AW oil (350-AW weight), Lubriplate's "SFL" NLGI #0 grease and plain old Dexron ATF.

The ATF is about .85 cents a quart at Walmart. A quart will last a LONG time.
It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.
You alone and our own have earned it with...Your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever.

    The title is....."United States Marine".

I'm a CLP guy and I clean them up after every shooting session. Not because they need to - unless using corrosive ammo - but because I like to and really appreciate a cleaned up weapon.

As for grease, I use Maxima. Hey, if it's good enough for my dirt bikes, then it is good enough for the weapons.
Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

I've been using a bottle of an oil additive for breaking engines in I think it's about 20w. If I was buying a bottle specifically for my guns I'd prob get 0w. Though I'm sure that it doesn't really matter for what I'm using it for. I say just use whatever you use in your car.

          I use.....

A 3:1 mix of synthetic motor oil and a PTFE based oil treatment. Cost is about $35.00/gal or less than 28 cents per ounce. Compare that to over a dollar per ounce for "synthetic gun oil".

I use it on almost everything - even my AR clone. It works well and seems to deposit Teflon just like CLP does.

I'm surprised to see alot of guys using motor oil, it makes sense and I've always considered it, but assumed there might be a reason not to (one I have never thought of, but I'm no expert).
