    8mm Mauser ammo available

I was curious on what other 8mm Mauser ammo is available in bulk
50s Yugo and 70s steel cased Romanian seem to be the most plentiful.

    50s Romanian brass cased
Widener's Reloading and Shooting Supply has ammo and reloading supplies for sale at cheap prices. Find out why we're the best deal on the web today!

    50s Iranian brass cased

    70s Romanian steel cased

    50s Yugo brass cased

40s Czech brass cased (only 8mm ive shot, shot very well in my vz.24, although it says late 40s on the sellers website, 98% of mine was early 50s)
Welcome to Maine's largest military supply store. We have a full selection of military clothing, footwear, BDU pants, BDU coats, hunting gear, firearm accessories, knives, law enforcement gear, paintball equipment and more.

What other countries is 8mm surplus available from in bulk?
I will be updating this list when I find new ammo.

Yugo M75 so called sniper ammo is also available but it is pricey but does group really good with my FN49 and yugo mauser, it has a 198g fmj bullet and is corrosive. I got a case of 900 like 5 years ago....cant remember where I ordered it from though! Sorry.

Was M75 made by PPU back then?

Yes it was. The crates and headstamps will have what looks like "NNY" on them. NNY is just PPU in the local alphabet.

Has anyone ever used the Iranian 8mm? Is it typical 50's stuff?

Romanian 8mm is really good stuff, although it burns dirty. Aimsurplus' price on the spam cans can't be beat.

I just bought a 900rd case from these guys: http://www.classicarms.us/ammunition.htm

Haven't compared shipping costs but the retail price is lower at classic. Honestly, I'm very impressed with this ammo. It's very accurate our of any of my Mausers (M48A, M24/47, VZ24). No FTFs... they all went "bang" so far. Very happy with my purchase...

Plus, I can verify that it's 100% "lead core", non-magnetic. You can shoot this stuff year-round...

I've been wondering the same thing. I've read since this is a time when Iran was a strong US ally that the ammo is very good and clean. This is from reading on other forums so I can't confirm, also I think they were talking specifically about 30.06, also for sale by samco.

But I'm not guna lie the price is almost justified by the crate you get.

Edit: here is the thread about the iranian 30.06, bottom of page a member states how clean it shot.
To All, I would like to acquire some more 30-06 surplus and I was wondering if anyone had experience w/ this? I don't believe I've heard much regarding Iranian ammo and don't know about quality. Any thoughts? Regards, Doug

it is good stuff but one of 98ks hates it. the lacquered cases kept sticking to the chamber every 10 shots or so and i wouldn't be able to push the next round into it all the way. then that next round would get stuck in the chamber and i'd have to gently slide the cleaning rod down the barrel and push it out

i'd still buy more though. that was just one gun. may not even happen again as i thoroughly cleaned the chamber when i got home.

Thanks for the information, I was wary of getting the lacquer coated rounds. Im worried with the 50s yugo that the primer will be too tough.
I'll probably end up buy a few boxes from J&G before buying a crate.

Also here is a breakdown of yugo romanian and czech ammo. the pulls the bullets and measures consistency, etc.

Not a fan of the romy stuff. But the 50s Yugo I have stacked everywhere shoots great. Kinda stinky, but very consistent.

                            Yeah, I have to agree.

I've shot that steel cased stuff and wasn't impressed. I'll stick with the Yugo...

Thats not due to the laquer on the cases, but instead the fact that they are steel and it doesnt expand and contract the same way brass cases do when they are fired.

if you think the laquer is getting hot gumming up you chamber, try this. take a fired laquer case and hold a lighter or open flame to it. the laquer will not liquify or turn sticky, it will burn off. that rifle might just have a tight chamber
