    Question about buying a C&R handgun (P08)

I'm interested to get a Luger P08 but have a question:

Seller is out of state & he's not FFL, I have my C&R & COE. Does the seller have to ship the pistol to FFL01/Dealer & I have to DROS it, or it can be directly ship from the seller to me? I need to know the right way to do it & don't want to break the law. Please advise & thank you in advance.

You have to go through a FFL01. The good part is you can DROS and take it home when done.

Zinfull is correct. To expand on his answer -- the only thing you get to do with your C&R+COE combination is skip the 10 day wait.

Now, the bad news. Many CA dealers (FFL1s) will not accept a shipment from anyone but another FFL1. Since the seller is not licensed, either you must find a CA dealer who will accept from an unlicensed person or the seller must ship using an FFL1 in his state (that adds expense.) The out of state FFL1 must get an OK through CA DOJ/BOF CLETS to ship the Luger to your receiving CA dealer. A pain; but doable. Your local dealer is permitted to charge any amount he wishes for his service -- he is not limited to the $35 PPT limit. So, you need to find a dealer who is friendly to doing FFL transfers without charging an arm and a leg.

There are some dealers that only charge $50 for the Dros and transfer. I have heard most are in the Sac area.

If he is in Oregon or Nevada why not make a drive over state line and pick it up in person? No need for a 01 FFL to get involved.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Don't forget. If you go the route of picking up you will need to fill out the C&R Handgun Reporting form and send in the $19.00 to the People's Republic of Kalifornia DOJ.

Thanks for the tip, but this one will be shipped from the seller to my FFL01, then when it comes, I'll be down for the DROS & take it home on the same day (the beauty of C&R and COE combo ).

do you know of any in the san gabrial valley? Most here want $125, you can pay more for the transfer than the gun.
