Gunbroker Issues - No shipping to CA

Been looking at some cool Garands on Gunbroker. Why are these guys refusing to sell to CA? I have my own proper FFL lined up and cash to spend. Please tell me why they refuse to sell to CA, even after a polite email to them informing them it is a legal transaction.

I never bought from Gun brokers do you need a bank account to buy stuff off there ? I was also worried about the Cal shipping issue but I would contact the seller before I bought from there.

When you create your account, you must supply a bank or cc which gunbroker charges $1 to verify it is legit.
      To prevent bad bidders.

I'll let someone else explain why the rest of the gun world hates CA

I've bought several long guns from gunbroker before. Its a little more paperwork for them but there are FFLs willing to do it.

CA voters allowed this to happen. No need to blame someone else who can sell their goods hassle free. You would do the same if you ran a business.

I face daily disappointments on gunbroker.com due to all the ant-burners (we are the ants) that post their auctions up there. But, there are a few good men amongst the sea of haters which makes gb worthwhile to buy and sell from.

You do not need Gunbroker for Garands... look for the ODCMP, best Garands money can buy.

As for other guns... yeah I hate when people say they won't sell to CA. makes it worse when you have a seller who is in California selling a Ca legal gun who will not sell to anyone in California through proper FFL channels!

As for this being Ca voter problem? No idea how it's my fault... I didn't vote for those morons.

                  • Unlike every other state, California requires out-of-state FFLs to register with them and get an approval number each time they ship a firearm to a California FFL. Some out-of-state FFLs think that is unconstitutional interference in interstate commerce by California and they refuse to participate out of principle, others simply don't want the hassle.
                  • You can get around the no shipment to California restriction. There is a Gunbroker seller who will act as a middleman for an extra $20 plus shipping.

                  • You should be buying Garands from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) anyway. They will ship to California, right to your door with no FFL or DROS required, prices start at $495 plus shipping. http://thecmp.org/m1garand.htm
                  Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

i've bought from GB with no hassles. A lot easier when shipping C&R rifles to the PRK. Anything modern is not really a pain, but just more work on the sellers end. Usually a phone call to the seller will clear up any problems. At least in my experience.

Why would you buy a Garand off of GB anyway? Buy from the CMP.

If I were on GB I'd ship to CA and probably charge $20.00 extra for "the hassle" ... Personally I think some of the sellers like being mad at CA better than they like $$$.

CFLC stops a lot of them. Here is what I do and it works over half of the time:
                          1) Ignore the "no sales to California" part
                          2) email them and state that it is legal here and your transfer dealer will accept it so you want their permission to bid on their auction
                          3) wait for their response, if it is positive thanks them, if it is negative be respectful

Honestly though you shouldn't buy from GunBroker, you should buy from CMP. They sell great rifles for far better prices than on GunBroker.

Its a hassle to spend 1 or 2 minutes to log into a website, punch a couple of keys, and hit the print button?

                              Ditto.

I've even given the "No CA Sales" people links to the CA DOJ website and the CFLC crap that they don't want to hassle with because they're confused by all the negative press. After that, they usually say "thanks for your help" and "sure I'll sell to you since I can't afford not to."
