Nice job on the Boyd's stock. How did you finish it?

I will find out next week hopefully. When i install it.... it felt pretty tight. I would need to do some shooting and see how it holds..

        TDSMICHAEL :

The cheaper brands of scopes will die very quickly from full power military loads. I'm going to put a Leupold on this one. When shopping for one, hold it arm's length and sight through it to get an idea whether that particular brand will fit with your eyes. Cheaper ones include Star and other Chinese imports. Nikon are more sturdy, but the others, they just destruct under recoil.

The attachment below is a scout scoped M39. That is a NC Star ($39.95) fixed 4x pistol scope, that has lasted for almost 10 years now, with thousands of rounds downrage. Still does the job with no problems.

No, you are not a Bubba. You salvaged a bubba-fied rifle. Bubba was the one who cut it down. There is a huge difference. The end result may be the same, but the starting point makes all of the difference.

I got an m91 barreled receiver whose barrel had been cut. So I went ahead and finished the job to make a 91/38. Here's a pic, and at the end, there's the link to the post where I show everything I did.

If I were not Bubba, that barreled receiver would still be leaning against a wall somewhere. This weekend I'm going to put on a scout scope to see what's what.

link to post wherein interesting markings are shown:

Absolutley the best no drill/no tap scout mount available. I have these on several Mosins. With locktight on the brass set screws, they will not come loose. No permanant alterations to the rifle either

I contacted them last two weeks ago and they are on back order. I think there is a waiting list.

Lex, the backorder is for M91/30 and M91 mounts. Darrell has M38/M44, and M39 mounts in stock. The one in the pic is the old design. The new ones are even better with the weaver mount part of the base. When I first started to use them the weaver mount screwed onto the base. Still works flawlessly though.

Thanks Howie. That is right. I did ask for the 91/30. Now we need to go out and test them out. Who is down?
