    Q: Rifle for Girlfriend

    Howdy All,

So I want to get my girlfriend an Finnish Mosin for her birthday (because she's Finnish and absolutely loves them!) and I was wondering how to go about doing that.

I have my C&R so I can just order it myself and get it, but I need to know how to 'sell' it to her. The reason I ask is because we both live in California, but she's a resident of Colorado. Would I be able to 'sell' it 'cash & carry' or would she have to get a C&R for herself so I can sell it to her with her Colorado address on it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

ETA: I know I can just get one with an antique receiver, but I want to know how to do this for a C&R Mosin.

The purpose of a Curio & Relic license is to allow you to add to your own collection. If you aren't acquiring the firearm for your own collection you shouldn't use your C&R. Do whatever you would do if you wanted to give her a modern firearm.
    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

I agree that you can't order one specifically with the intent of giving it to her. But if you order another one for yourself you can give her the one from your collection or the new one, depending on which one you want to keep to improve your collection.

You can transfer it to her directly, but only if she comes to your licensed premises in person for the transfer.

Federal law says a C&R FFL can transfer a C&R rifle or C&R shotgun to an unlicensed resident of another State as long as the transfer takes place at the FFL's licensed premises and as long as the transfer follows the rules of both States.

Since the firearm is a C&R long gun that is over 50 years old you will also be in compliance with California law.

Hell! Just get her a Finn built on an antique receiver, then it is not even a firearm (no FFL of any kind required.) Example: My 1942 Sako M39 is built on a 1898 Sestroryetsk receiver.

I'd say get her a little GSG 5 (.22) and looks like an MP5, maybe even an M1 Carbine (.30 cal carbine), both have little to no recoil and both run roughly the same price
