questions regarding a CMP order (M1)

I just sent in my notarized order packet for an SA service grade M1. The cmp site says there is a 15-30 day wait, was wondering if anyone knows if this is accurate or not. I paid with a personal check so It will probably delay my order a bit, anyone use this payment method?

I always paid by CC but it still took around 30 days. I would not worry as they need to process the app and the check will clear before they can ship.

I got one of the last M 1 Carbines. Delivery time was less than 30 days. About 25 days if I recall correctly. CMP moves right along on things. But they always give themselves some breathing room. YMMV - Good luck and enjoy that Garanad when it arrives.

The CMP processes the orders as fast as they can. If they give a time-frame, believe that they'll get it done (generally) in that window. Paying by check won't slow them down much, if any. They may delay shipment until the check clears, but other than that... they're pretty darned fast at it!

Ordered in May and August, both times rifle arrived in less than 3 weeks. Paying by check will not delay your order as they process your check when they receive your order.

As others said, they generally beat their estimates of delivery by several weeks. I got mine in 4 weeks when they were estimating 3 months.

I mailed my order forms/packet to them on Sept. 18th and the FedEx driver delivered the package on Oct. 1st.
I was expecting alot longer but I'm very impressed with their customer service and speed. Who knows...maybe they're just not as busy as they used to be?

Last year i ordered mine 1 week in jan got it mid first week of feb. depends on how many orders they have.

They are moving pretty quick right now. If you sent a check, then add a few more days. Always pay with a CC.

You will be very happy when she arrives. The Service grades are just about perfect...

I got My HRA SA around 2-3 months ago when they said it was a 60-180 day wait or something. It came within 30 days. At this time the Springfield's were 30-60 days I believe. If they are 15-30 days now, expect your rifle at your door within 2-4 weeks tops. I hope you are as happy with your SA SG as I was with my HRA SG. Here's a pic of what to expect.

Wow. That rifle is amazing looking. Makes me want to order another one. The M1 looks so amazing. I can't complain about mine. 400,763 Springfield with a 41 barrel. Still, I'm a sucker for amazing walnut on a M1. So temping to buy another.....

Thanks. By the way it had a LMR barrel which appears to be original to the rifle.
Also, Request a USGI stock. It doesn't mean you'll get one, but it helps. Unless you want one of those new CMP stocks on it. Personally I'd rather have USGI wood.

Keep in mind with a Springfield Armory M1 theres a greater chance to get one that doesn't look as "new" as an H&R. Springfield Armory made M1's from before WWII all the way up to 1957 when they stopped. H&R was only contracted to make them in the '50s. I have 4 service grade M1's (2 H&R and 2 SA). One of the SA's is a WWII production and shows considerably more wear and is looser than the others. It does however meat service grade spec. which is mostly based on muzzle and throat erosion. It does not have the original barrel. Good move on getting a Garand. They are my favorite rifles.

You can also request a later serial number range if you want a better chance of getting a "newer" SA SG.
