How good is the PU scope?

I have been looking to do some long distance shooting with my mosin nagant lately and I have been looking at PU scopes but they only have 3.5x or 4x magnification

Do you think this is enough magnification for 200 yards?

how many of you have shot that far with your mosin with a PU scope?

At first I was going to convert my existing 91/30 to a sniper with a bent bolt and buying a PU scope and having it smithed on, then after I did the numbers, I could just get a complete sniper from JG sales for 450ish dollars So i would rather do that and then i can have 2 rifles

    then I seen this

A POSP scope adapter to a Mosin , its a 9x scope which is better than 3.5x , would cost more than just buying a complete sniper and is pretty unique.

do you think its worth it?

I kinda just wanna buy the sniper so I can have a scoped mosin and then slowly build the one I have now with the POSP scope, its also useful because I want to get a SVD one day too so the scope would be interchangeable

    thanks!

the PU is a terrible scope and I prefer the PE and Zielvier / Ajack type scopes but it is era if you are collecting correct PU Snipers, regardless they are fun to shoot.

im not really in it for the collectors value or whatnot, I just want to be able to shoot my mosin out to somewhat long distances with a scope, dont really plan on going over 300 yards with it

then use one of those mounts that do not require drilling into the Receiver and use a modern 3X9 scope and you will be happier.

A friend of mine tried a POSP on a 91/30, and it sucked. A lot. Couldn't get a good cheek weld, wouldn't hold zero, etc, etc...

so now i gotta find a standard scope , maybe 4-16x that can take the recoil from a mosin

                  any suggestions?

is that so? 1,000 yards is possible with a few modifications, wont be the most accurate scope. Still hits the steel man sized target every time though.

I have a pu repro. It is not the greatest scope out there but it sure plinks the 600 yrd steel pig at my local range.

A PU scoped Mosin is fully capable of 800 yard shots. Plenty good enough for 300 yards,

Well....You can hit as broad side of a barn with one.

Seriously a PU scope is very capable in the hands of a skilled rifleman

I guess I should clarify alittle. You wont be slicing dimes with a PU scope at 800 yards but if you are shooting a reasonable target (ie. washing machine) you should be able to hit it most of the time. Thats what we have as our 800 yard target.

Well, according to history, it was good enough for the Russians in the Battle of Stalingrad.
