Complete iron sight for reliability. Great for camping or just survival need. BTW the barrel is 16.25” with top drilled and side drilled for muzzle break. I also bore out about 1” and somewhat recrown the barrel. I haven't fire it yet but the weight and cheek position felt very comfortable and right up to the iron sight.

I also added an ATI front sight.

Positive feedback will be greatly appreciated.....
I was wondering how the front sight holds after you shoot it. I have never seen anything like that. It looks cool enough but practical? The barrel gets hot, you need two hands to work the action, the right will be busy with the bolt, where will the left hand be? How about a sheet of silicone wrapped around the part of the barrel your hand would be, held on with high temp silicone adhesive? Good for up to 500 degrees. I am not a purist either, but I do want guns that function easily and won't kill my shoulder when I shoot it. I know you will figure it out. When the SHTF, someone that puts thought to paper, paper to application is good in my book any time.
How are the extra rounds kept in the stock? Thank you for posting your work. jt

I actually found holding the front portion of the magazine felt pretty comfortable and the magazine wont be that hot. As far as the extra rounds I use the standard 5 round clips and welded on. It holds very well. Here is a picture. The stock is stabilized via the rear magazine screw using a spacer and the spacer was welded on the two side plates. I also use the trigger slot as the secondary anchoring point. The stock felt solid. the 1" pad will give mega protection to my shoulder. It has softer and more padding than the standard ATI Monte Carlo stock.

As for the front sight. It wasnt designed for 16" Mosin barrel. I was created for 22-24" so i have to bore it out slightly so i can slide this plastic sight in. There are two screw under the sight to help holding it. I dont know how well it would hold.

That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

                Looks great, Lex!!

Don't know if you already shot it . . . but if the sight comes loose, try epoxy. It works on mine. Please report back on results.

I am heading out to the range in few days and will give u a report on it. When it was bored, and inserted. The sight felt pretty tight and two schools helps alot. However, JB Weld might be a good thing too.

When I shortened my m44 barrel, I tried to cut the dovetail to use the original frontsight, but it was a little loose. I used JB Weld after establishing center . . . it is on tight after 20 rounds test last Friday with best 50yd 3-shot group 1 3/8" with Yugo 182gr ammo.

Hope to hear great things from your baby!! Have great session and do let us know!!

I really like the way the stock and it houses 18 rounds (added 3 more) and the rifle felt very comfortable. I made sure the position felt right before welding very thing in. I am also hoping the muzzle brake will help me control this beast too. This is a skeletal version and it serve the purpose.

Was this one created from an m44? . . . Have you shot other m44's? If so, you'll find the recoil not significantly different . . .

And your muzzle brake work should smooth things out . . .

what type of welder do you use??

We used Tig weld and I mode the 91/30 mosin. I have 6 mosin... so one mod would be ok. I have 3 M38, 2 91/30 and 1 m44.

I love my Mosins, too, both for what they are and what they can be . . . . I'm no purist, like the Finns are no purists . . . I like to see the Mosin's potential reached . . . I like where you're going with yours!!

Took of my Mosins out today and my favorite is the 16.25"

The rifle performed very well comparing to the longer Mosin Nagant version M38/44. With muzzle brake the rifle actually has less recoil. I also shoot with one hand to show how stable the rifle was.
