Just curious, for those of you with Tokarevs and CZ-52s, which size bore brush are you using? Would a .30cal brush work or am I being silly?

I too use a .30 brush on my CZ-52. But I use a .270 on my CZ-50. Go figure.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

.30 is what I use on my Tokarev."And away to the hills, to the caves and the rocks. Here I own a usurper I'll couch with the fox. So tremble false whigs in the midst of your glee. For you've not seen the last of my bonnets and me"

Since we are on the subject of cleaning the tokarev I had a question. I just started dros on a tokarev and had a few questions. I tend to shoot with my friends and tend to shoot for one to two hours if I spraywindex on it will it still be ok? And when I bring it home is using a bore snake and brush gonnabe enough?Comment

Windex contains no magical properties for cleaning out corrosive salt left by surplus ammunition. You need to wash the barrel out with water and then clean as usual. It won't rust after a day but clean it ASAP.Since we are on the subject of cleaning the tokarev I had a question. I just started dros on a tokarev and had a few questions. I had thought that the ammonia did something but apparently not since windex is ammonia and water. As far as cleaning it in hot water goes though we talking boiling water or just hot? Could you fill up a bowl and put the whole gun in there for a few mins and then start cleaning it?Comment

Ammonia will remove some copper fouling, but the amount in Windex makes it negligible. If you need to remove fouling use regular bore cleaner. Warm water will do just fine. I don't recommend putting the entire gun in water; that would make you have to strip clean the entire thing so it does not rust. Only the barrel needs to be exposed to water. Dip it in a bowl for a couple of seconds and then run a boresnake through it. Do it a few times, then clean as usual, and you'll be fine. If you don't want to remove the barrel to dip it in a bowl you can soak the boresnake in water and run it through. I have multiple boresnakes so I can use one with water and the other with cleaner.I had thought that the ammonia did something but apparently not since windex is ammonia and water. Boresnakes are made for either pistols or rifles. Obviously, the pistol snakes are shorter. Make sure you know which one you are getting - before I knew there was a difference, I didn't check the package closely and ended up with a pistol snake when I meant to get a rifle snake. You can probably use the rifle snake on a pistol, you'll just have a lot of extra snake to pull through.Comment
