    Which is more accurate?

    M1 Garand
    Mosin Nagant 91/30
    Mauser 98K
    Lee Enfield 4 MK I

Which would be more accurate if I wanted to use this is as my "sniper rifle". After finishing Saving Private Ryan for the millionth time, I have a reborn respect for the sniper (my Enemy at the Gates copy has gone MIA).

True hand loads work best but all of the rifles above could be accurate if modified

I was looking through the results of a CMP Service Rifle match which lists the rifle used. The rifles which were most prevalent were Swiss straight pull bolt actions (K31 and model 11's), M1917's, Swedish Mausers and a 98k's. 3 of top 10 were using M1917's, 5 Swedish Mausers, and 2 Swiss straight pulls. Of your list and all things being equal I would say the 98K.

I'd still get a Mosin anyway just so I can pretend to be like Vassili in Enemy at the Gates.

Then I could get a Mauser so I can pretend to be Erwin

And then I'll get a K31 (even though I have no frame of reference of its use during WWII) because everyone seems to say its highly accurate, reliable, and made of high quality material and design.

K-31 would win Haha... For it's price it's inbetween some of the rifles you named. I love mine and it'll be my forever rifle that will get plenty of use.

                      Cheapest way...

                      Buy a repro 91/30 sniper.

Test it to see if it is accurate.

If it is accurate, you are done. If it is not accurate sell it here on Calguns, cash and carry, for as much as you paid for it.

                      Buy a repro 91/30 sniper.

question is, how accurate are you?

I think out of the 4 you mentioned the Mosin Nagant would be the easiest one to test for accuracy. Not too many Garand or Enfield snipers out there and the ones that are are probably pretty pricey.
If you want to build you own sniper, it is easy to find an ex PU sniper. There are a few companys that make reproduction scopes and mounts or you could search for real hardware and optics. You could also build a PE or PEM but finding ex snipers of those are a little harder.
If you wanted a 98k then you can build one of those as well but good luck finding an exsniper and if you do your gonna pay for it! You could build a replica and a Long Side Rail is probably the easiest.
I have restored a PU, PE top mount, and a PEM side mount and also built a replica LSR 98k. I have zero experience with Garand or Enfield snipers.
Accuracy wise my PEM side mount (91/30) is my most accurate followed by my 98k then the PU and lastly the PE top mount. Most fun to shoot? The 98k hands down! So much fun in fact I am working on a High Turret 98k now.

It depends on if the sites are all properly adjusted. If they are, they would all be "accurate". Now, if you were to ask about precision. That would be a different thing.

Marcus you are hording all the Mosins from the rest of us LOL. Once I get the money together I will be building a replica PU from what was a UFIXEM the currently has nothing but a Complete barrelled reciever and matching bolt/floorplate. Need a 91/30 stock for it then will test it for accuracy to see if it would even be worth it
