C&R Record Keeping Question

Howdy All,

Ok, so let's say I purchase a C&R rifle with the intent of "sporterizing" it (don't bash me, my guns, my choice). So, from what I understand, if I sporterize it, then it will no longer qualify as a C&R. Does this mean that I have to log it in dispositions?

Also, if I keep the original parts and want to put them back on, does that make it a C&R again? Would I have to log it in receipts?

No, do not log it out until you actually do dispose of it.

The "no longer C&R" thing just means it cannot be transferred as a C&R. i.e., no FTF sales, can't sell out of state to another C&R holder, etc. It would have to treated like any regular firearm.

Keeping the parts for restoration when you do decide to sell it would be a good idea.

Awesome, thanks for the info. And I always keep parts for my guns! I just can't part with them.
