    COE Live Scan Question

    Hey All,

I'm filling out my COE application and it says that I have to have a Live Scan of my prints sent to the CA DOJ and FBI.

The thing is that I work for a law enforcement agency (un-sworn position) and have already had my prints done via Live Scan. Do I have to do it again or am I clear to just send in the application?

my guess would be that you would need to have it done again.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

        Call the DOJ and ask.

          That's what I figured. Thanks.

Another question: Is the COE kinda like a CCW in that they could just not issue one if they felt like it? If not, then what are disqualifiers? I have a squeaky clean criminal history, no tickets EVER, work for law enforcement, etc. etc.

Also, do I need to have my FFL03 BEFORE I apply for the COE? I was going to do both at the same time.

          Thanks again!

            AFAIK, it is "shall issue".

no, you don't have to have the 03 before you apply for the COE. YOu can send them in at the same time, or one before the other, if you wish.

I have an 03 and coe. With these two documents, you circumvent the new 2011 law on buying handgun ammo face to face. As long as the internet seller will sell it to you. I think maybe you will have to have them on file with the seller.

I doubt that many out of state dealers will even care about the FFL03/CoE combo. It sucks, but I wouldn't blame them for being scared of Kalifornia.

Tonight I will attempt to write the dealers I deal with and try to compile a list of the ones that respond. I wish there were a way to track, California on-line sales of ammo from out of state dealers.

That seems like good info for a sticky!
