I weep for the poor thing. But it's his pistol and he's happy with it....
It's like your daughter married a lawyer or a realtor. You're sick to your stomach about it but you're glad she's happy...even if you know she'll regret it later.

        Best deal ever.

I want a Tokarev, but the cheapest one I saw online is $189 (not a 33, not russian.).
        and doesn't ship to CA.
I would have to have it shipped to me in AZ and import it as a c&r.
        Sigh.
        Anyway.
That SKS is awesome! and though I'm not down with the two-tone either, that's still a great deal!

That is one amazing deal he got both those for less than two hundred? I just bought today a Yugo SKS in rather crummy condition for $220. Much jealousies here(also been grooving on the TOK just gotta find one for the right price)

I agree with you also Fate. I do understand how we should keep these firearms as original as possible. However, this is 100% better than what it looked like before. I picked this gun up as a real basket case. It was in a plastic shoe box that looked like it had water in it at one time. The trigger and hammer were actually rusted to the frame. Once the rust was removed, there was major pitting on the frame and the slide. If I split the cost of the two guns, I have a shootable Tok for about $40.00 and about 5 or 6 hours labor because I had the Duracoat laying around. It may not look like an original, but it sure does shoot like one and I'd rather have this Tok than no Tok at all.

That's one of the best deals I've seen out here for a long time.
Did you say both guns for sub 100$? Or combined they're over that?
Either way that's a score if I ever saw one.

Shame you had to recolor the Tokarev, but to be honest that does make it look really sweet.

I think you guys worrying about 'surplus purity' can realx. Look at the back of the frame on the left side -- that's a safety; the kind you find on Chinese (Norinco) commercial pistols. I'll bet this thing was put together from odds and ends and has no historical value at all.

I think it's a pretty good save of a pistol that sounds like it was close to ruined.

The SKS looks good as is though.

I think you 'did good' making the best of a helluvadeal
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

The pistol doesnt look that bad. And it's better off now or else the lack of an effective finish would have ruined it.

May I ask where you scored these at this price?
Where do people find good deals on old guns?
                      Estate sales? haha.

I bought them from a woman who's husband left her for someone else. I missed the 2 Garands and what sounded like an 03A3 by about 5 minutes. The guy who bought the Garands was only interested in US arms and told her that these two were crap. I told her they were not to a lot of people, and she thanked me for being honest and asked if $150.00 was too much for me. I said no. I told her I needed to make a run to the bank and she asked what I had in my pocket, which was $91.87. She said sold. She sold his boat and a 67 Charger for practically nothing also. I hope he is happy with the new GF.

Hilarious! That's the price he pays!
Wish I came up on those and the garands. Deal of the century, probably once in a lifetime.
                            Congrats!

I heard about it through a friend. She actually introduced me to the woman. You are right, once in a lifetime.
