it's an amazing family you got into there. That's the important thing. The job is secondary.so even,[gasp!] are the guns.I'm glad Princess is happy, and absolutely amazed at your Mother in Law's attitude. You area VERY lucky young man.My mother in law of the past 30 or so years would love to see ALL guns, including mine, melted down.

TRICKSTER, I like the way you think, my only reason for keeping thus far is that my grandpa (Opa) gave it to me from the great war. But I do miss my Carbines, and I pretty sure having another one may soothe my ruffled feathers.!!WANT TO BUY and looking for shooter/beater/reenacting grade German Waffen proofed handguns from the WWII era. I just want shooters, Im not looking to spend oodles of money, I just want shootable examples to play with!!
!!!Also looking for a shooter/rack grade USGI M1 Carbine (Earlier the date the better)!!!

Dude if My Opa left me a Mauser I would die before I sold it. I do have some of his WW2 memorabilia though. A pocket knife and a small pocket book map thing with a swastika on the cover. On the inside is a bunch of his writing and notes in the first couple of pages. It is signed/dated by him in the early 40's. I still haven't gotten my mom around to translating it for me.Comment

Mauser:
Look dude don't take this bad... But Grow up! You sold your guns Oh well there gone. Your Married now this might not be the time in your life to buy toys like us old guys can. You better get off the NET and get a job and an apartment. You will loose her if you don't man up. If and when you have a kid he or she will come 1st! they get the toys not you. Keep the rifle you have enjoy it as best you can. you will always be able to buy a carbine, ya it will cost more down the road.... but you should be making more as you get older.
You can talk to your wife about the military a great job and they let you use there guns.
This might piss you (or others) off but the day you got married you made a statement that you would make her more important than yourself, stop talking to her mom about selling your guns for her daughter.

I know what you mean I have been trying to get a job for a good 6 months now I dont have a ton of stuff on my resume but nothing bad either I just cant find ANYTHING and im in Riverside, I even thought I had a job but it fell through so I have been selling my guns
1 by 1 I had 16 now Im down to 4
i even bought a used cheap motorcycle that was a 1988 right before i got laid off and I had to sell that bills need to be paid and all i need for home defense is my 12ga model 20 by J C higgens That a REALLY REALLY nice calgunner is giving me and a CZ 75 SPO1 that my dad gave me before he passed away
So to answer your question it very well could be worth it but I say hold on to it and just wait for the cash GLWTB M38 mosin

Dr. Mauser,
I've had to sell off my stuff twice in 30 years. Always regreted it. I've managed to hold on to my .38 & 10/22. Don't even think about getting rid of you gramps rifle. Hang on, I'm up the road from you, and I've been out of work for a year, so I know it's very tough here in the valley. You need a crew

Day labor.
I kid you not. That's how I got around one of my summers for survival. A lot of people that pick up day laborers will rather pick an English speaker over the alternative. Also, if the people look like habitual pickers, hand out resumes... That's how I got a steady summer jobOriginally posted by AJAX22Anti gun BS...

I can relate to your thirst for new rifles. Like me, you must have a wonderful woman willing to put up with the bullS%@t. It is definitely an addiction my friend...I hate trying to give advice to people when I'm close to the same situation, but I have a job and I can pay my bills, so the occasional "pissed off woman" is worth a new rifle. I hate to say it bro, but get a job...McDonald's or whatever can pay the bills...I've got a great lady (just like you), but even I know they have there limits...I know this only because I push hers every month....cuz that is about the rate I buy a new rifle. From one young man to another...It's hard but sometimes you gotta be happy with what you got. Please don't take this the wrong way because in all honesty I don't listen to the same advice...It's just easier to tell you the right stuff then listen to it myself...lol. (Secretly I hope you get the carbine)...Good luck!!!Comment
