You could buy four 1919A4 semi guns for that kind of money.

I like milsurp stuff alot, and have a "few" myself. These are good really accurate rifles... I happen to really enjoy my 1918A3 (maybe my favorite thing I own, including my Johnson M1941), and I am doubting you have the horsepower to own an AUTO BAR (as can be said for almost everyone)... So, that's fine with me, bag on them as you will, more for those of us who like to be able to actually own at least a likeness of what our troops carried in three wars in defense of our Country... I guess you could add a dummy gun to your collection to fill this niche if you would rather... Good luck with that... not my style...

Wasnt the prevalence of surplus BARs the reason for the GCA of 1936? (could be wrong on the date, I think it was the NFA act??) Supposedly the mobsters were using it to out gun the police (according to some documentary on the History Channel). They showed Bonnie and Clyde types shooting through cylinder block walls and such. It sure is a neat rifle, wish I could afford one...

I like my repro OOW BAR just fine. It works perfectly as long as you use hot enought rounds. (The old Lake City M2 ball isn't hot enough to cycle it)

I agree with those previous posts. You can't have a "real" BAR in KA, and even if you could, the cost would be prohibitive and whats more, on original BAR should be preserved. Continual use will eventually damage or wear it out.

              Not everyone agrees

If you can, take a trip to Albany, Oregon on May 15 and 16 where you can shoot the real thing for $10 plus $40 a magazine, like this guy did

              Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

There is nothing quite as useless as a fully automatic M-14, most of them have their selectors welded closed.

There are a total of 4 7.92 caliber MP44 in California. I'm the first and only one to send one to CA. All four of them have been transferred through me. Those are the only MP44s in CA. There are only 150 of them in the US and 4 of them are in CA thanks to my middleman service. Run the math on that. 49 states sharing the balance means there are more MP44 guns in CA than any other state. Woohoo California!

The M-14 is a very good weapon. The shooter needs to know how to controll full auto. Most people do not shoot well enough to contron most full power machine guns (the shooter not the gun). I can fire the M-60,M-14 or M-16 off hand on full auto with no problem and keep all the rounds in a 10" circle at 50-yards all day. The selector is not welded on the M-14, it has a selector lock attached with a rollpin.

A friend bought a full auto BAR for $3000. 15 years ago, just before the the prices on all full auto guns started to go up. Most of you are probably to young to remember the tv show COMBAT! ALways liked to see Kirby shooting his BAR.

I'm not too young - great show. And if I recall, most of the time Kirby held the darn thing sideways. Personally, I would have given the BAR to Little John.

I love the BAR... one of thee best rifles i've ever seen. Period.

If I had the mula, I'd buy the repo in a heart beat.
