Help Me pick a K98

those all look pretty good, i'm going to go with aforementioned sentiment: bore. thats what makes it a good shooter, not its manufactured date, obscurity of producer, etc.

i just got my k98 out on the range last wekeend, its a total mix-master; nothing matches, but it still shoots wonderfully, getting hit after hit at 400 yards, almost k31 accuracy.

My 2 cents would be the answer to your question is found in the "why". Why do you want a K98? To shoot it? Deer rifle? Collectible?

I chose my K98 for the bore (bright w/ distinct L & G 's) and overall good condition w/ matching numbers. It's not a special factory and has peened markings. I use it regularly at the range and is a true tack driver.

Conversely, I know many who, at the same time I bought mine, jumped all over ones that had special symbols, or factories. There was even one that had special marking indicting which unit it was issued to. No one cared about the bore b/c no one was going to shoot it.

So, are you going to shoot it or is it a collector's piece. The answer to that should help you determine wish to buy.

All that said, the K98 is a great gun... enjoys yours! GL!
