If you are going to order by mail and take "luck of the draw", order a Service Grade to minimize the chance of disappointment. If you can go to one of the two stores (Alabama or Ohio) and can examine the rifles in person

then you might find a Rack or Field Grade that is nice, but if you mail in an order for a Rack or Field Grade and take luck of the draw, you might be disappointed. It will be a good shooter, but probably not so pretty. Or, you can get a Rack or Field Grade and fix it up, perhaps with a new stock.

If you have the money, you can wait until Correct Grades are available again next year.

These are my CMP rifles. They are all Service Grade except the HRA M1 in the center, it's a Correct Grade

    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Well, nowhere near Ohio or Bama, so it looks like correct grade is the way to go.

        That is one sweet Grand!

        Thanks for the advise, guys!

Got some Garand ammo but didn't have enough $$ to order .30 carbine, now they're not taking orders.

But my carbine is even nicer than the Garand. I LOVE the CMP. Gonna order another rifle when I get the $$$$,

The carbine took 2 months exactly from the date I mailed the order.

Per the url to the pics, it appears to be pictures of CMP's alabama location. Pics are hosted by the CMP.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Just shot my service grade with some Greek surplus. At 100 yds with my left hand atop two 4x4s for stability, I was doing better than 2 MOA. Actually felt more confident with it than my Remington 700 (30.06) and a Leupold 3-9x40 scope.

Anybody have about 50rds of some ballistic tip, 150 grain, ball ammo?
