God bless the Mauser. Nice family portrait.
I really like Mausers too, I need to get more.

          #3 is a Danzig 1917 GEW 98

It has a two piece buttstock like an Arisaka. Kind of unusual. Unfortunately, it has a duffle cut fore end, with the cut off piece missing. Must of been a bringback, I just wonder which war.

I can shoot some more photos if you're interested.

            g98m

I'd say wwii. It's had the original roller coaster rear sight replaced by the Germans in the mid 30's. There should be an s/42 on the right side of the barrel below the sight. Is the barrel the same length as your yugo 98k or does it have a full length g98 barrel?

Nice collection, locktime! Mausers are sooooooo freakin' cool. I need to get a group shot of mine someday. Here's an old pic of two of them:

              A Yugoslav/German K98 and a German 33/40.

Here's some more photos of the Gew 98. It does have S42G stamped below the rear sight, and it does have the full length 29" barrel. Guess it was a WWII bringback. It's a bummer it doesn't have the rest of the stock.

You can see the two piece buttstock in the second photo.

                  LatAm Mausers

First off, gorgeous collection. A nice gew98 is certainly high on my list for next acquisitions, and the danzig one is imho the best to have, since that place isnt even german any longer.

Secondly, anyone know where i could find a list of all the countries which used mausers? I know of the following: Sweden, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey... did all of latin america use them?

i smell a new obsession: get one from each country!

I got this one from Classic Arms back when I first got my C&R license. I can't seem to shoot it straight though, but it sure is fun!

thanks for the list! now that i read it, i recall having seen most of these at one point or another. Although i dont think i've ever seen a uruguayen or bolivian one.

there's a gunshop out in lancaster (not the one with the indoor range, the one out closer to palmdale with the ridiculously overpriced ammo) that has a number of these relatively "exotic" ones. Although i'd never seen a mexican one until this week on GB. That'd be cool to get one of those!

Sure was a crime, whoever cut down that stock, locktime. Does anyone carry original or reproduction stocks for the Gew 98's? Also, I don't know if it's still in print, but there used to be a really cool book on Mausers by Robert Ball called, "Mauser Military Rifles of the World". I think there were at least two editions available at one time.
