Two pages and no one mentioned something Swiss? K11 or 1911?

Personally I?m a big Krag fan, and they were still issued in WWI. I enjoy shooting my Krags more than my 1903s but ammo is pricey. I also love my SMLEs.

It’s already been said, but the 1917 is probably one of the most affordable choices at $700-$800, uses 30-06 so you can both find and pay for ammo, and arguably has the best iron sights of any WW1 era rifle. Mine is by far my favorite to take to the range.

Here's the pics of mine. I'd sell it, you'd need an FFL who will recieve from an individual

Nice rifle, but grossly overpriced. That is why it has "O" bids.

You'd be happy with any of them. I own variants of each of those, with the exception that none of my mausers are German.

You might want to look into a few others. U.S. Krag rifles are awesome! I've never been so impressed by one of my C&R purchases, except for maybe my K31. US Krags are pinpoint accurate and the action is smooth as silk.

K31 is also one I'd recommend.

Swedish Mausers are typically the best for accuracy. You'll want to give those a look.

P14 or 1917 Enfield have some of the strongest actions on the C&R market. Something like a Turk Mauser might be better but the 1917 receivers are beefy. Really great rifles.

Regardless, happy hunting!!! Honestly, I usually have more fun shooting my C&R stuff than my "tacticool" rifles. YMMV

Don't look at svt's pictured too long. You will end up getting too high of a standard, then you'll never buy a gun, because nothing is good enough!

For 1500 you should be able to find a really nice milsurp!(but it was already mentioned who already has the nicest ones!)

First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.

Springfield 1903 but also look at the Mosin Nagant Model 91, SMLE, even the Lebel.

I've got GEW88/05s & an 88/05/35 that for me I consider wall hangers mainly because of ammo safety. Apparently, if you're not an advanced reloader with caliper reading & powder measuring skills, the safest ammo to shoot in them is commercial US production, and then your accuracy can/may suffer because of varying barrel diameters. They'd be cheap if interested. PAX
