    SVT 40 value estimate

Hi guys, thinking of possibly trading my SVT for an Auto Ordinance 1927A1 Thompson. Any guesses on what the SVT may be worth these days? Thanks, PAX

IMHO, $2,700-$4000 depending on condition, rarity and accessories. Yours looks in basically good shape, wood has some "character" (storage marks, scratches, etc.), how is the bore? How does it shoot?

Like every other C&R, it's worth what someone will pay/trade for it. For a certain buyer, a very desirable rifle. But not an average buyer. Probably more for someone with some focus in their collection, too expensive for just a shooter.

Thanks, I'll likely pass. The SVT will be tough to replace, it's in great shape with a ton of spares. '41 forced match refurb with SVT 38 mag. Thompsons can be had Kali compliant fairly easily. PAX

IMO you'd be disappointed with the '27A1 no matter what deal you struck if it involves offing that nice rifle.

Have you ever held and shot a Thompson? IMHO, only fun in full auto and they weigh a ton and are awkward to shoot. IMHO, SMGs neutered to semi auto with California stupid compliance are boring as hell.

Same as my Uzi, wanted one forever, finally bought one, but of course, it had to have a lame a s s 16" barrel and bullet button. Super heavy, boring as hell to shoot in semi auto so I sold it. The FA Uzis and Thompsons I've shot are really fun but in semi-auto? Meh.

Your rifle is super cool, I'd hang onto it and enjoy it.

Don’t do it. One of the few guns I regret selling is my SVT. Bought it from SOG back in early 90s for $239 and thought I made a killing selling it for $750 in late 90s.

You sell it to people like me who have more 54r ammo than they can shoot in their life time through bolt actions: )

But im too cheap for $2,000 + c&r rifles unless its a gatling gun type.

My SVT40 is quite possibly one of the last guns I would ever sell. I dithered around about getting one until about eight years ago and wound up paying $1200 for a very nice refurb. At the time I figured I was paying all the money for it, but in retrospect I am glad I got it when I did.

As time goes by all military firearms are going to be harder to come by and progressively more expensive. that is one of the reasons I don't sell off any of my guns. I don't know if I could afford to put this WWII semi-auto rifle grouping together at today's prices.

Ugh - of all the guns I've sold over the years (most of which I regret selling to varying degrees) my old SVT-40 is the one I regret the most. I bought it in the late 90s for I think around $600, sold it several years later for what I thought was the good rate of $800.

                              Lol.

Well, just like that PSL I traded for a Beretta 92 [gag]
