    Norinco SKS

I was at Turner's Outdoorsman 10 days ago and spotted an all matching
'Clinton Era' pinned barrel Norinco SKS on the consignment rack for $600 and bought it on the spot. I just spent the better part of two hours cleaning out the factory original cosmoline and am now in possession of a pristine carbine. Pictures to follow!

Not bad, good luck. Did it come with a spike bayo? PAX

Those Carbines are cool. I should have bought one back in the day.

I clearly remember back in the 1990s when those SKSs were ~$100.

I had my doubts the SKS was even relevant then much less now.

When you have real calibers like the 6.5 Creedmore, does the 7.62x39 have any down range significant right-of-way authority?

Yes, have all the original accessories that came with the Norinco SKS, along with a few Soviet armorers tools. An amazingly functional and self contained outfit. Looking forward to reloading Hornady and Berry's 123 gr bullets using CFE Black, AA1680, and reduced loads with AA5744.

          Cheers,

I guess this would only vaguely matter if you are planning to go to war with a rifle in 7.62x39. However, if you are like most of us civilians that enjoy shooting our firearms and aren't sitting on our couch fantasizing about marching off to war, this is a totally irrelevant a comment.

SKS are a throwback to pre WWII forged steel and wood arms making technology. They have a fixed magazine and limited capacity compared to nearly all military arms made post war.

Despite being old and obsolete and not being as tacticool as something like a AR15/10 or a dedicated sniper, they are still fun to shoot.

Nice pick up OP - $600 is the new normal for a Chinese SKS. I picked up one last year and it cost me $625 OTD, so right in line with what you paid. I have seen retailers asking more than that for the same rifle.

Gives me one more military surplus gun to reload for and search for obscure accessories.

Buy a stripper clip vest off of ebay. There is old new stock for about $20
Holds 200 rounds. Love using mine : )

It served its purpose quite well. Armed large hords of cannon fodder.

It seems that some Ukraine forces are still armed with 7.62x39. Seeing more videos of 5.56 small arms there.
