The bright finish K38's aren't anywhere near as common as the matte finish versions. I have one from 1950 which is still very accurate when shooting 148 grain wadcutters.

K38 on the right shown with one of my K22's.

Love my K38. Mine doesn't have the original grips anymore, but the consensus over at the S&W forum is that mine had some work done by the late, great Fuzzy Farrant, including some of his grips. My K38 is one of the guns I would grab if the house were on fire.

I bought the S&W model 15 at Turners about 27 years ago. 6 inch barrel. The M-15 is mostly made with a 4 inch and is named Combat Masterpiece. It looks like a K-38 but it has a different sight.

I've got a matte finish K38 that appears to have spent the batter part of its life in the original box and a bright finish K22

Is that the "Gun show loophole"?

No show involved! Concealed carry permit holders can legally buy handguns without entering a gun shop here in lovely NC.

Wow - that's pretty restrictive. Private citizens here in Idaho conduct "parking lot" sales all the time, no gun shop or CCW permit needed.

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

                            Same here in Tennessee.

True. If no concealed carry permit then a one time handgun purchase permit has to be acquired
