    SW K38 .38 masterpiece

Got this SW K38 Masterpiece in a parking lot trade recently. It was made in 1955. Unfortunately, a previous owner had acidic sweat and the right side plate and the front of the crane has scattered pitting from gripping it with a sweaty hand and not wiping it down. There is lint on the revolver which makes the finish overall look worse than it is.

The bore and chambers are immaculate and it shoots like a laser. Single and double action are a dream. I'm very happy to have picked it up.

Very nice. But I think you should change the whole story about the pitting on the side plate being caused by "acidic sweat",
to something like the blood droplet mist from the last guy who who was bad mouthing a gun going only by its looks, rather than its accuracy.

Just joking but I'm serious when I say I think that's a great find.

Very nice find. They don't make them like that any more. I have one from 1950 and this weekend I finally got around to handloading some wadcutters and look forward to seeing how it prints and handles at the range.

                  Colts have cranes.

                  Smith & Wesson's have yokes.

too bad about the pitting. that's the optional (at the time) high polish finish.

I inherited my grandfather's 1952-production K-38 Masterpiece. Terrific gun to shoot.

I acquired an 8" a while back. Great fun to shoot it!

I got one a few years back. They are fine guns to shoot

Nice looking S&W revolver. I have no S&Ws at this time, would like to find a M17 22 to put these K frame ROSEWOOD grips from the 70 s.
