I've never owned a Hakim, Rasheed or any Egyptian firearm for that matter. I did see this Hakim in 8mm at Turners for $700. It has an "M35" stamp on the receiver, does anyone know what that means? Overall The gun seems to be in good shape. Also I'm not sure if it's an all matching gun. Surprisingly, the employee let me take a picture. Is this a decent deal, or should I pass?

Hakim price check

What's the bore look like? That is a great price. If it's functional of course. Beware the bloody Hakim thumb!! Do you have 8mm ammo? Pretty pricey these days. If it was me , at $700 , it would be drossed already!! Parts are available at 'hakimparts.com'. -
Thanks. I just want back to check the bore - total sewer pipe. Hence the price. I ended up passing on itComment

I've never seen a "m35" stamp on any Hakim. It's probably part of a importer marking.
Definitely not part of any original factory marks.
Egyptian 8mm is very corrosive so no surprise the bore is bad.
That is a "fair" condition rifle based on its exterior condition.Poke'm with a stick!

As far as "matching" a Hakim only bears a serial number on the left side of the receiver . . . none of the other parts are numbered at all.Comment
-
The M35 was actually the serial number.Comment

Over priced ! Esp with a sewer pipe bore. The one I had many yrs ago would shoot and print up by 5-6 inches warming up and then go back down 3-4 inches. Made by Hakim on Swedish machinery imported from Sweden to Egypt yrs ago. Clunky.

Those rifles were highly sought after when 8mm surplus ammo was both cheap and readily available. That isn't the case anymore, so other than diehard collectors, aren't really desirable.
A lot of "war rifles" were also popular from the 80's - early 2000's when milsurp ammo was everywhere and cheap. Not so much anymore.Comment

the 8mm Hakim barrels are easy to find. I've purchased two on fleabay over the last couple years.sigpic"There is no greater feel than to be in control of 56 tons of steel and watching that 105mm round go down range and blow something up."Comment

Unless your a reloader then you can shoot anything you have the dies for. These C&R weapons are still fun to shoot and collect, they will always be sought after and will be valued accordingly to availability. Those rifles were highly sought after when 8mm surplus ammo was both cheap and readily available. It is never too late to start collecting and reloading.Comment

They were stamped. You can see it in one of the pictures in the initial post. Per employee that was the serial number. I don't know how to read Arabic numerals, so I'm not sure if trueComment
