    Garand Stock

Check out the deal on Stock, Walnut, G.I. Surplus (Refinished - Good Condition (No Metal Included) at Numrich Gun Parts

Does anyone know anything about them? Good price? I ordered one to replace my CMP stock, I think any USGI stock in good condition would be better than the CMP one.

You may, or may not, be satisfied with GPC reconned stock.
I have a complete set of M1 GI wood, new, available. It appears to be Greek or maybe Netherlands blond wood.

They have a good return policy. I would order without reservation, in fact I just ordered two. :-)

Years ago, I restocked my M1 with a new stock from Boyds. Fit was perfect as was the wood. I was happy how it turned out. YMMV. Good luck.

Those are quality stocks for sure, the only problem I have with them as they just look too new for an old rifle.

I agree. But that wasn't a concern for me at the time. My old stock was cracked beyond repairs and had been "fix" many times before.

Still have the rifle and she's a good shooter. Good luck with whatever route you decide.

I your Garand is a late 50's, it would have to have been one of the last of the Mohicans.

Got the stock yesterday. Not a single mark/cartouche. Is that normal for a USGI stock?

Stock looks beautiful, but I was hoping for some sort of marking on it. Not sure how I feel about this.

My serial number is something like 5,875,000, just over 100k from the last one manufactured.

Was hoping for a WWII era when I ordered from the CMP, but the one I have is pretty sweet.

Man they had to do some serious sanding to sand off the cartouches.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. It does look purdy though.

Once I find a like condition rear hand guard, I’ll have the set and will swap out the CMP stock for my “new” USGI one.

Cartouches were frequently sanded off during the rebuild process

The last of the Garands were a generally well made bunch. Many were made up as NM models. I've got two 6.0 million Garands, which are considered the last of the last. Both are equipped with NM barrels, one an LMR and the other an SA.
