    Sorry, reading comprehension problem on my end. I was responding to Pitfighter's post about the WW1 1911s in .455.

    If not already mentioned, the Germans used the M1914 during WW2, continuing production.

      early extended slide release

      they designed it with an extended slide release , probably the first M1911 style pistol to have a slide release like that

      looks like most parts are interchangeable with a M1911 , I wonder if USGI parts would fit?

        Yes they will. What a lot of people don't realize is that throughout the long history of the 1911, only three countries have produced it under official license. In Europe, the licensing rights were held by FN and in the Americas, they were held by Colt.

        So, in order to acquire the license to produce the 1911 as designed by Browning, the Norwegian government had to negotiate with Fabrique Nationale. The other two countries that produced 1911's under license were Argentina with their Sistema Mod 1927 and the United States when it was manufactured by Springfield Armory between 1914 and 1916.

        I feel very fortunate to have and example of each in my collection.
